Golden Eagles Ready to Host Alfred Wednesday Afternoon

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team is at home Wednesday afternoon for a matchup against Alfred University. The match is set to begin at 4 pm.

Last Time Out: The Green and Gold got its first win of the season in its last outing, jumping up to 1-0-1 overall. The team defeated Houghton College on the road, 4-0, in a dominant showing. Brockport outshot its opponent 25-3 in the contest, including 15 shots on goal compared to Houghton's one. Brockport also was rewarded nine corner kick opportunities with Houghton getting only three.

Hotaling's Hat Trick: Katie Hotaling got the nod for the first start of her collegiate career against Houghton and did not disappoint. The freshman midfielder scored not only her first career goal but her second and third as well. With all three goals coming in the first half, she notched her first career hat trick in less than 45 minutes of action that Saturday. Hotaling currently leads the team in goals and points after this performance.

Helping Hands: The Golden Eagles have recorded four assists on five goals so far this season. In the win over Houghton, Julia Mascaro was credited with two assists. She now leads the team in the category early on in the season. Camryn Pettit and Sophia DeAngelo both registered an assist in the last contest.

In Net: Kayla Usborne has held down the fort in net for the Green and Gold so far this season, going 1-0-1 as the starting goalkeeper. She has made 11 saves on 25 shots faced and has only allowed one goal. Usborne and Guliana Parisi teamed up by splitting time against Houghton to record the shutout.

Looking at Alfred: The Saxons enter Wednesday's match with a 1-0-2 record overall. They have tied both Fredonia, 2-2, and Penn State Harrisburg, 0-0, so far this season. In Alfred's 2-0 win over Lancaster Bible, the team had goals scored by Karah Landries and Nyah Solly. Kayla Silverstein and Alyssa Smith have also found the back of the net once, as all four goals Alfred has recorded this season have been from a different player. Hannah Fuller is the starting goalkeeper, as she has made 16 saves and allowed two goals. In 2019's meeting between Brockport and Alfred, the match resulted in a 0-0 draw.

Up Next: The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday, September 11th for an away game against St. John Fisher. This contest will begin at 4 pm.
