Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team is on the road Friday night for a conference matchup against Geneseo. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm as Brockport looks to bounce back with a win.
Last Outing: The Golden Eagles lost a close game to New Paltz over this past weekend, 60-55. After trailing by 20 points in the first half, a huge third quarter got them back into the game. However, the visiting Hawks did just enough to hold off the comeback. Brockport moved to 8-4 overall and 3-3 in the SUNYAC after the loss.
Player of the Week: On Monday,
Anna Felice was named the PrestoSports Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Felice made her return to the court last Friday against Oneonta, after missing six games with an injury. She led the Golden Eagles to a 75-51 victory over the Red Dragons, scoring a game-high 20 points and dishing out a career-high five assists. The next day she was Brockport's leading scorer again with 17 points in a losing effort against New Paltz, 60-55. Anna is the leading scorer this season, with a career-high 17.7 points per game.
Get Back Games: The Green and Gold has yet to lose two games in a row so far this season. The team has proven its ability to refocus and play well in response to adversity. In the three bounce back games already this year, Brockport has defeated its opponents by an average margin of 22.3 points following a loss. The squad looks to continue this trend against Geneseo on Friday.
Finding a Rhythm: Erin Nolan has been scoring well and in an efficient manner over the last three games. After five games without hitting double figures, she has now scored at least 10 points in three straight outings. She tied her season-high of 17 points last game against New Paltz. During this three-game span she is averaging 12.7 points per game, while shooting 53.3% from the field. On the season she is averaging 9.1 points a night and shooting 52.2% from the floor and 87.5% at the foul line.
Looking at Geneseo: At 4-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference, the Geneseo Knights have had a rocky start to the season. After a close 55-52 loss to Oneonta recently, the Knights have now lost three consecutive games and only have one win in the last seven outings. Geneseo is 0-4 at home this season entering a home game against Brockport on Friday. #21 Mackenzie Reigle and #14 Hannah Stockman are both averaging just over 10 points a game to lead the Knights. Geneseo defeated Brockport in two of three meeting last season, including the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament when the teams last faced each other.
