Men's Basketball Hosts Cortland for SUNYAC Battle

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team welcomes the Red Dragons from Cortland for a conference matchup on Tuesday. Game is set to tip-off at 4 pm at The Vlog.
 
Last Time Out: Brockport fell to Geneseo in its last contest, 66-50, on the road last Friday. Antonio Alvarez finished with 10 points and nine boards, just one rebound shy of a double-double. Jahidi Wallace led the team with 12 points, coming in off the bench. The loss puts the team's record at 9-4 overall and 4-3 in the SUNYAC.
 
Short Trip Coming Up: Following Tuesday's home stop, the Golden Eagles will play three straight road games. They begin the trip with a stop at New Paltz on Friday night. Next the squad moves on over to Oneonta for a late-afternoon bout on Saturday. Then on Tuesday, January 25th the Golden Eagles travel for a meeting with Fredonia.
 
Conference Rematch: Brockport and Cortland met earlier in the season, which resulted in an 87-60 win for the Green and Gold. Jahidi Wallace and Mekhi Beckett both scored 23 points in the win on the road, while David Grady III added 13 points. Austin Grunder was one rebound shy of a double-double, tallying 13 points and nine boards for the Red Dragons.
 
Standings Update: Oswego is currently 13-1 overall and 7-0 in the SUNYAC, putting it at the top of the conference. Geneseo is also undefeated at 6-0 in the SUNYAC, 8-4 overall, and is second in the standings. New Paltz is third, while Brockport comes in at fourth with a 4-3 conference record. Oneonta is fifth, followed by Cortland, Potsdam, Plattsburgh, Buffalo State, and Fredonia.
 
Looking at Cortland: The Red Dragons have won back-to-back games heading into Tuesday's matchup with Brockport, as they are now 7-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference. #20 Austin Grunder is averaging a double-double, posting 17 points and 11.1 points a game. #32 Danny Linehan and #2 AJ Lawton are long range shooters who have both made more than 20 3-pointers this season.
 
What's Next: The Golden Eagles are on the road for a pair of games this weekend. Friday night, they take on New Paltz at 7:30 pm before heading to Oneonta for a 4 pm slate on Saturday.
