Last Outing: The Golden Eagles fell to Oneonta on the road, 73-83, in their last contest. They have now lost two in a row for just the second time in almost three years. A slow first half put the squad in a hole and it couldn't climb all the way back, despite a big night from
Jahidi Wallace. The loss puts Brockport at 10-6 overall and 5-5 in the conference heading into the weekend.
Wallace's Big Game: Jahidi Wallace went off in the loss to Oneonta, putting up a career-high 32 points to go with eight boards. He did most of his work inside the painted area, shooting 12-for-21 from the field and 8-for-9 at the charity stripe. It was his sixth game of 20+ points this season, as he leads the team in scoring with an average of 16.3 points per game. Wallace is shooting 51.8% from the field this season and 75% at the line.
Beckett Gets Buckets: Freshman
Mekhi Beckett has now scored at least 10 points in eight consecutive games for the Green and Gold. He is averaging just north of 20 points a game over his last three outings, which included a career-high 25 points against New Paltz. The first year player is averaging 14.7 points a game and is Brockport's biggest threat from beyond the arc. Beckett is shooting 47.3% from deep (35-for-74), which is the second highest 3-point percentage in the conference.
SUNYAC Standings: With six teams making the SUNYAC Tournament at the end of the year, Brockport currently owns the sixth spot with a 5-5 mark in the conference. Oswego sits in the top spot with a perfect 10-0 mark against SUNYAC opponents. New Paltz is second (7-3), Oneonta is third (7-3), Potsdam is fourth (6-3), and Geneseo is in at fifth (6-4). Scouting Plattsburgh: At 2-14 overall and 1-8 in the conference, the Cardinals have struggled so far this year. They have yet to win a game on the road this season, holding an 0-5 mark away from their home court. #10 Erik Salo is posting 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, while #1 Kevin Tabb is the leading scorer by posting 15.4 points a game. Brockport has won three in a row against Plattsburgh, including a 2-0 sweep during the 2019-20 season. Both games went similarly, which saw the Green and Gold take wins of 94-72 and 93-71.
Scouting Potsdam: The Bears are 8-6 overall and 6-3 in the conference heading into the weekend. They have been playing well as of late, winning four games in a row. #00 Tyrese Baptiste creates all sorts of problems down low, averaging 16.3 points and 12.5 rebounds a night. Potsdam also benefits from its other crew of scorers, which includes #24 Colton Juestis, #14 Brandon Segar Jr., and #21 Parker Kelly who all average double-digits.
