Women's Basketball to Hold We Back Pat Game to Kickoff Busy Weekend

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team is at home this weekend for a pair of SUNYAC contests. Plattsburgh State comes to town Friday night for a 5:30 pm tip-off and then the team plays Potsdam at 2 pm on Saturday.
 
We Back Pat: Friday night's game will be the annual We Back Pat game for the Golden Eagles. They will be partnering with the Pat Summit Foundation to help raise money to fight Alzheimer's disease. "Brockport Backs Pat" t-shirts will be available for purchase at the entrance to the gym where donations will also be accepted with all funds raised being forwarded to the Pat Summit Foundation.
 
Saturday's Halftime Show: During the halftime break of Saturday's contest against Potsdam, Brockport welcomes a group of 3rd and 4th grade St. Johns of Spencerport CYO Girls' Basketball. Coach Ashley Broadhurst Somers, a SUNY Brockport women's basketball alumni from the class of 2008, is coming back to The Vlog with her teams. The girls will play an eight-minute exhibition match during the mid-game break.
 
Last Time Out: The Green and Gold dropped to 8-8 overall and 3-7 in the conference after a 63-55 loss to Oneonta on the road. After earning a 16-13 lead after the first quarter, Brockport entered halftime down by two points thanks to a last second shot by the Red Dragons. The second half was back-and-forth, but Brockport was unable to regain the lead which resulted in a fifth straight loss for the team.
 
Nolan's Strong Showing: Erin Nolan played one of her best games of the season in the loss to Oneonta. She finished with a season-high 18 points and nine boards, which is her second highest rebounding total of the year. Nolan has scored 10 or more points on seven different occasions this season, including five of the last seven games. She is shooting 45.5% from the field and 86.4% from the foul line this season, averaging 8.9 points and 5.1 rebounds a game.
 
SUNYAC Picture: At 3-7 in the SUNYAC, Brockport is eighth in the conference standings. The full listing of the standings is as follows: 1. Cortland (8-0), 2. New Paltz (8-2), 3. Oneonta (7-3), 4. Buffalo State (5-4), 5. Fredonia (5-5), 6. Geneseo (5-5), 7. Potsdam (4-5), 8. Brockport (3-7), 9. Plattsburgh (2-7), and 10. Oswego (0-9).
 
Looking at Plattsburgh: The Cardinals are 5-11 overall and 2-7 in the conference and have lost three in a row going into the weekend. #23 Deja Beauford is the leading scorer for the squad, averaging 15 points a game. #33 Payton Couture is posting 11.9 points and 7.3 rebounds a game, while #31 Hope Sullivan and #11 Mya Smith are also averaging double-digits in the scoring column. Brockport defeated Plattsburgh in both meetings during the 2019-20 season, by scores of 66-51 and 55-51.
 
Looking at Potsdam: The Bears pulled out a close 58-55 win over Buffalo State in their last game, improving to 9-6 overall and 4-5 in the SUNYAC. #12 Jakia Howard is nearly averaging a double-double, posting 11.9 points and eight boards a game. $4 Dyamon Hunter is the team's leading scorer with a mark of 15.1 points a night. Brockport won both matchups against Potsdam last season and has won three in a row against this conference foe.
 
What's Next: The Golden Eagles are back on their home court next week, as they welcome Geneseo to The Vlog on Friday, February 4th. This conference matchup is set for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
