Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team dominated Plattsburgh at home on Friday night, marching to a 92-62 win. The team improves to 11-6 overall and 6-5 in the SUNYAC, bouncing back after losing two in a row prior.
 
In just 16 minutes of action, 
Antonio Alvarez scored a season-high 18 points. Alvarez shot 5-for-9 from the floor and 3-for-6 from downtown. 
David Grady III and 
Joseph Pena both poured in 12 points, while 
Mekhi Beckett finished with 11 points.
 
Outside of the four double-digit scorers, 12 of the 14 players that touched the floor in the game got in the scoring column. 
Monte Johnson led the squad with seven boards, while 
Devante Hagins pitched in with five steals and five assists.
 
The first half was all Brockport, as the team got out to a huge lead early on and never looked back. The home team earned a double-digit lead less than three minutes into the game and would eventually go up 31-14 just past the halfway mark of the opening half. The Green and Gold stretched the lead to 30 points by halftime, owning a 54-24 advantage going into the second half. 
Antonio Alvarez scored 16 of his season-high 18 points in the first half.
 
The Golden Eagles continued to extend their lead as the second half got going. With 14:55 on the clock, they would seize the largest lead of the contest at 47 points to lead Plattsburgh 74-27. The Cardinals would shorten the lead slowly as the game pressed on, but they were too far behind to make any real comeback attempt. Brockport would cruise through the finish line, defeating Plattsburgh by 30 points at home.
 
Franklin Infante led Plattsburgh with 14 points, while Kevin Tabb and Liam Ryan combined for 21 points. The Cardinals are now 2-15 overall and 1-9 in the SUNYAC this season.
 
Brockport is back home at The Vlog on Saturday for a rematch of the 2019-20 SUNYAC Championship, as Potsdam comes to town. The game is set to commence at 4 pm.
