Utica, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's and women's indoor track and field team traveled to Utica College on Saturday to compete in the Blue and Orange invitational.
Competing in the invitational included Division I UMASS Amherst, Division II Le Moyne and St. Rose, Division III; Utica, SUNY Oneonta, Hartwick, SUNY Cobleskill, RPI, SUNY Delhi, Sage, Alfred State, Delaware Valley, SUNY ESF, Hamilton along with community colleges Hudson Valley.
The men's team finished the meet placing first overall with a combined team score of 117 with the shot putters earning the teams most points with 23. The women's team fell short behind Division I UMASS Amherst as the Golden Eagles scored 112 points resulting in a second place finish. The women's weight throw earned the teams most points with a total of 24.
Track Events
5000m
Jared Smith of Brockport started off today's track events finishing second place in the men's 5000m with a time of 15:38.30.
Ethan Carey would place fourth in the event with a time of 15:39.20.
Mile
Meredith Masker picked up a fifth place finish in the women's distant race finishing in a time of 5:39.71.
Thomas Kressly on the men's team also finished in fifth place with a time of 4:32.85.
3000m
Veronica Dailey took home first in the women's 3000m race picking up 10 points for the women running the race in a time of 11:02.59
800m
Jennifer Mets managed to record a time of 2.35.39 m in the 800m race to bring her team home 4 points
200m
For the men,
Olivier Kothor finished in first place with a time of 22.41s while Sarah Levine and Marissa Wise finished the women's 200m in fifth and sixth place. Levine ran the race in a time of 26.80s while Wise ran the race right behind her in 26.82s.
4x400
The team of Anita McGhei, Sarah Levine, Rhea Winter and Marissa Wise placed fourth in the women's 4x400 with a time of 4:14.89 to earn 6 points towards the women's score. Coming in fifth place right behind them was the team of Meredith Masker, Jennifer Metz, Lucia Sibley and Kaylee Haynes. In the men's medley, Devon LeGrair,

Olivier Kothor finished in fourth place with a time of 3:38.84.
Field Events
Long Jump
Reigning defending Division III National Outdoor Track & Field Long Jump Champion
Egypt Page managed to finish in first place in the long jump with 7.09m to give 10 points to the men's team. Dion Putaski took home third place in the same event with a mark of 6.47. Finishing in fifth place in the women's long jump, Mia Montgomery recorded a jump of 5.05m for the Golden Eagles.
Triple Jump
D'Andre Hunter won the men's triple jump with a jump of 12.84m with Dion Putaski picking up fourth place with 12.15m. Mia Montgomery took home fourth place earning five points for the woman after leaping for 10.63m in the triple jump.
High Jump
Micaela Levesque finished second in the high jump reaching 1.56 to earn the women 8 points for the team.
Pole Vault
Three of the top five pole vaulters in the women's event came from Brockport as Mya Henry finished as the top vaulter on the team with a mark of 2.90m. Tess Eichner came in third after hitting a mark of 2.75m and Gillian Laco fifth with a mark of 2.60m. Zach Smith managed to place third for the men's pole vault clearing a height of 3.95m.
Weight Throw
The top three spots in the women's weight throw went to the Golden Eagles as Sarah Crockett, Alayna Fredenburg and Emma Kinnicutt finished first, second and third in the event. Crocket threw for 15.73m, Fredenburg for 15.39m and Kinnicutt for a mark of 15.26m. together the trio earned 24 points towards the women's score. On the men's side,
Matt Faulise placed second with a throw of 16.12m while
Connor Ferris finished third with 15.79m
Shot Put
Sarah Crocket won both the shot put and weight throw once again as this time she won the shot put with a throw of 13.03. for the men, Recording 4 out of the top five spots in the men's shot put were
Art Jordan,
Alex Rood,
Elijah Washington, and
Matt Faulise. Jordan took home second with a throw of 15.38m, Rood third with 14.99m. Washington fourth with 14.44m and Faulise with 14.27m. Combined, the four throwers brought home 23 points for the men's team in the event.
Looking ahead
The Golden Eagles will next host the Brockport Multi-Invitational on Friday & Saturday, February 4th & 5th. Fridays events will start at 4pm with Saturdays beginning at 10 am
