Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagles volleyball team is on the road to wrap-up conference play for the regular season. They head out to face Fredonia at 6pm on Friday before taking on Buffalo State on Saturday at 4pm.
Last Time Out: Last weekend the squad travelled for a pair of conference matchups against Plattsburgh and Potsdam. Brockport defeated the Cardinals, 3-1, on Friday night before sweeping Potsdam, 3-0, on Saturday. The team's record improved to 16-5 overall and 6-1 in the conference.
Postseason Clinched: After defeating the Potsdam Bears on the road over the weekend, the Golden Eagles have officially locked up a postseason berth. They will return to the SUNYAC tournament in 2022 after falling in the semifinals last year. Brockport (6-1) owns the tiebreaker over New Paltz (6-1), but trails Cortland (7-0) for the number one seed. Results around the conference will impact what seed the squad will earn heading into the postseason.
PINK OUT - Breast Cancer Awareness Night: On Tuesday, October 25
th the volleyball team will be hosting its Dig Pink Night for Breast Cancer Awareness. Leading up to the game the Golden Eagles will be selling pink shirts to wear in order to raise awareness and donate the proceeds to help those fighting the disease. Brockport will play St. John Fisher that night, starting at 7pm.
Dynamic Duo: Jordan Thompson and
Andrea Coyle are ranked first and second respectively in the SUNYAC in kills. Thompson leads the conference with 252 kills, 331 total points, and is second with 55 service aces. Coyle is second in the SUNYAC with 227 kills, third with 273 points, and she's sixth in digs. This pairing has been fantastic all season and look to keep the momentum with the postseason right around the corner.
Precision Passers: Having the two conference leaders in kills doesn't happen without great passing from the setters.
Kerri McHale and
Ashley Allen are both top 10 in the conference in assists this season. McHale leads Brockport with 423 assists, ranking fifth in the SUNYAC. Allen is seventh in the conference with 334 assists, a new career-high.
Determined Defensively: Libero
Madalyn Bowen has also played her role incredibly well this year. With 321 digs she ranks second in the conference in both total digs and in digs per set (4.72). Teammate
Myah Frostclapp has 14 solo and 50 assisted blocks to total 64 blocks on the year. This puts Frostclapp at second in the SUNYAC in blocks to help earn a spot inside the top 10 with 203 total points.
SUNYAC Opponents: This weekend Brockport will face two conference opponents, concluding league play for the regular season. First up is Fredonia, which enters the matchup with a 4-16 overall mark and a 2-5 record in the SUNYAC. The Blue Devils have back-to-back matches against Oneonta and New Paltz by way of a 3-0 sweep. The team will then face the 11-7 Buffalo State Bengals, who own a 4-3 mark in the conference. They recently had a four-match win streak snapped by a 3-0 loss to New Paltz.

th. They take on St. John Fisher for a 7pm start for the Dig Pink Night for Breast Cancer Awareness in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium.
