Brockport Takes on New Paltz in Opening Round of SUNYACs on Saturday

Brockport, NY – The sixth seeded SUNY Brockport women's soccer team is on the road for the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament on Saturday. Brockport takes on the third seeded New Paltz Hawks for a 2pm start.

Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles finished the regular season out with a, 2-1, win over Nazareth on the road. Maryalice Skutnik scored in the first half unassisted. After a 1-1 tie at halftime, Kaleigh Pettit found Franchesca Polcaro for goal that claimed the victory for Brockport. The squad finished the regular season at 5-8-3 overall and 3-5-1 in the SUNYAC.

Back to SUNYACs: For a third consecutive season Head Coach Mike Idland has the Golden Eagles back in the conference tournament. They have two conference championships in program history from back in 1983 and 2006. In the opening round of last year's SUNYAC Tournament Brockport fell to Cortland, 4-3. Brockport had a strong opening half with three goals, but couldn't hold onto the lead through the finish line.

Points Leaders: Franchesca Polcaro is the new team leader in points, goals, and game-winning scores. After scoring the game-winner over Nazareth, Polcaro now has three goals, six points, and two game-winning goals this season. Kiley Longin and Maryalice Skutnik are tied for second the team with two goals each. Kaleigh Pettit has four points from one goal and two assists. Against New Paltz: Earlier this season the New Paltz Hawks defeated Brockport, 2-0. However, in the last 10 years it is Brockport with the advantage in this conference rivalry. Since 2012 the Green and Gold own a 4-2-4 record against the Hawks. Saturday will be the first time since before 2000 that the two programs have faced off in the SUNYAC Tournament.

Scouting the Hawks: New Paltz enters the SUNYAC Tournament as the third seed after going 10-3-2 overall and 6-2-1 in conference play. #25 Rachel Eisert is the team's leader in points, tallying 17 total points on a team-high seven goals and three assists. #2 Parris Burke and #5 Emma Voege both also have three assists. #23 Gaby Treble is the second leading scorer with six goals on the season.
