Oberlin, OH- The SUNY Brockport Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving team competed in their second day of competition at the Oberlin Mid-Season Invitational. After day two the Women have moved up to second place with 568 points trailing Oberlin's 709.5 points. The Men have remained in tenth place with 238 points.
The Men placed ninth in the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:42.12. The team of
Luca Olivieri,
Oliver Dragojevic,
Joe Keeney and
Garrett Nanna scored 40 points for the Green and Gold.
Jace Frederickson placed 22
nd in the 200-yard freestyle scoring 3 points with a time of 1:52.67.
Dragojevic placed ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke scoring 20 points with a time of 59.21. Tay Getiren finished in 21
st place with a time of 1:07.64 recording four points.
Luca Olivieri placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.37. His second-place finish scored 28 points for the Golden Eagles. Fredericksen snuck into the top 24 scoring races, in 19
th place with a 57.79 scoring six points.
Down in the diving well,
Kurt Mueller placed third on the 1-meter diving event with a score of 380.20, scoring 27 points for the men.
Ren Watson placed fifth scoring 347.90 for the green and gold recording 25 points towards the team score.
The Women started off the Miya Vitale, Teagan Makuch, Emily LeFrois-Heath and Elizabeth Sagan scored 50 points with a time of 1:52.28.
LeFrois-Heath placed first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:39.02, five seconds before the second-place finisher. Emily scored 32 points for the Green and Gold as well as breaking a school and meet record. The school record was a 4:45.05, held by Alanna Blasting in 2012.
Miya Vitale placed eighth in the 100-yard butterfly with a. time of 1:03.22, scoring 12 points.
The Women swept the 200-yard freestyle with a second and third place finish collecting some big points. Nicole Orcutt took second with a time of 1:59.15, followed by teammate Elizabeth Sagan with a time of 1:59.16. Parker slide into the top 16 with a 2:03.40 collecting 13 points. Emma Purvis and Hannah Pauly rounded out the scoring races in 23
rd and 24
th scoring 2 and 1 points for the Green and Gold.
Sam Whitman placed tenth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:12.90 scoring 17 points and teammate Teagan Makuch was right behind in 12
th place with a time of 1:14.37 recording 15 points for the Golden Eagles.
Vitale placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.19 recording 23 points for Brockport.
The Women finished the second session of swims with the 800-yard relay with a time of 8:06.87, scoring 64 points. Nicole Orcutt, Sawyer Parker, Elizabeth Sagan and Emily LeFrois-Heath hit the pads nine seconds before the second-place finishers.
Down in the diving well, Kyra Russ placed first in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 382.60 scoring a big 32 points for the Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles will be competing for the final day of competition at the Oberlin Invite tomorrow in a scoring prelims session due to the cancelation of finals because of the impending storm.
