Women's Basketball Opens SUNYAC Play at Buffalo State

Brockport, NY – On Tuesday, November 29th the SUNY Brockport women's basketball team opens up SUNYAC play on the road against Buffalo State. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
 
Last Time Out: Brockport traveled across town last week for a non-conference matchup with RIT in its last outing. The RIT Tigers had a big second half to hand Brockport a, 68-43- loss on the road. The Golden Eagles were up at halftime, 22-19, before RIT exploded in the second half. The Tigers went on to score 25 points in the third and 24 more in the fourth. They outscored Brockport 49-21 in the second half for the win.
 
Notable Performances: With a career-high 11 points off the bench, Juan Brown led Brockport in scoring against RIT. She was 3-for-5 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 at the line.
 
Zairea Hannah also hit double-digits in the scoring column, finishing with 10 points and eight rebounds. She hit 6 out of 8 shots at the free throw line and also came up with three steals defensively last game.
 
SUNYAC Play: Conference play begins this week for Brockport, as the team has three SUNYAC opponents on deck. Brockport will face Buffalo State on Tuesday, Oswego on Friday, and Cortland on Saturday. Last season the Golden Eagles finished 7-11 against SUNYAC foes. They narrowly missed out on a postseason spot last year.
 
Scouting the Bengals: The Buffalo State Bengals enter Tuesday night's contest 1-3 overall this season. Buffalo State recently defeated the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, 69-42, at home. #2 Tashawni Cornfield led the way with 20 points and 14 rebounds for the double-double. She is currently the leading scorer, rebounder, and defender for the Bengals. Cornfield is averaging 16.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.6 steals a game. As a whole, the team is shooting 35.7% from the floor, 19.0% from long range, and 53.4% at the charity stripe.
 
Weekend Shift: This weekend the Golden Eagles will continue battling other SUNYAC opponents with two more matchups. They face Oswego on the road on Friday at 5:30pm before coming home to take on Cortland at 3pm.
