Women's Basketball Falls to Fredonia Away From Home

Fredonia, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team was unable to keep up with the Fredonia Blue Devils on Tuesday night, taking the 67-56 loss. Brockport moves to 10-12 overall and 5-11 in the SUNYAC.
 
Anna Felice had her second highest scoring output of the season, pouring in a game-high 22 points. Chelsea Henry scored 12 points, as the only other double-digit scorer for the Green and Gold. Molly Mahony did the dirty work, grabbing 12 rebounds and coming away with three steals.
 
Brockport got out to a quick lead early on, going up 8-2 in the first couple minutes action. Fredonia would get going to close out the first, as the Blue Devils trailed, 12-10. The hosting Blue Devils would turn the tables in the second, as they worked to secure an eight-point lead at the break.
 
The Fredonia lead would grow to begin the second half, as the team held a 39-27 lead with 6:51 left in the third. Felice found a bit of a rhythm to close the period, as Brockport trailed by seven points at the start of the fourth. The Golden Eagles continued to battle back, cutting the deficit to just three points. The Blue Devils pulled it together down the stretch, marching through the end of regulation for the double-digit win over Brockport.
 
Fredonia's Lauren Mickley led the way with a triple-double, finishing with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists. Mackenna Nechwedowich had 16 points and Morgan Davis had 12, as the Blue Devils improved to 11-12 overall and 6-10 in the conference.
 
The Golden Eagles have two regular season contests remaining on the schedule. They travel on Friday for a 5:30 pm matchup with Oswego, before concluding the season at home against Buffalo State at 2 pm on Saturday.
