Oswego, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team fell to Oswego, 87-66, on the road Friday night. Brockport's six-game win streak comes to an end, as the team moves to 16-7 overall and 11-6 in the SUNYAC.
Antonio Alvarez finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, and five steals in the contest.
Mekhi Beckett was 8-for-13 at the free throw line to score 15 points of his own and
Jahidi Wallace had 13 points.
David Grady III stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, seven boards, five assists, and five blocks.
Oswego jumped out to an early lead, going up 21-7 with 13:17 on the clock. The Lakers continued to build upon their advantage to make it a 20-point game as halftime drew near. Brockport entered the mid-game break trailing, 49-29.
The Laker lead would grow to 24 points in the second half, as they were up 58-34 with 16:03 left to play. The Green and Gold cut the lead to 15, making the score 69-54 with less than 10 minutes remaining. However, that's as close as Brockport would get as Oswego cruised through the finish line for the win.
Oswego had five double-digit scorers, as the team improved to 22-2 overall and 16-1 in the conference. Jamal Achille and Ahkee Anderson both scored 16 points, while teammate Devin Green posted a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double. The Lakers will have a first-round bye as the number one seed going into the SUNYAC Tournament.
The Golden Eagles will close out the regular season at home on Saturday with a matchup against Buffalo State. Its Senior Day at The Vlog, with tip-off scheduled for 4 pm.
