Zavala Just Short of Indoor Program Record as Brockport Traveled to the Nazareth Tune-Up

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's and women's track and field team competed Friday night at the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up as the tea attempted to make some last chance efforts at prepping and some trying to qualify for the upcoming SUNYAC Championship.
 
Track Events:
 
60m Hurdles
In the women's hurdles, senior Kelsie Neldrett set a new personal record for herself just finishing in 2nd place in the event with a time of 9.32s. Neldretts new PR now places her as the fourth fastest time in the event in program history.
 
400m
Josh Jeziorski and Nick Markle were Brockports top racers in the 400m as the two earned sixth and seventh place. Jeziorski took home sixth place with a time of 52.66s while Nick Markle recorded seventh with 52.81s Jennifer Metz earned herself sixth place in the womens 400m with 1:01:97
 
1000m
Jonathan Zavala earned himself a first place finish at the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up in the men's 1000m race finishing with a time of 2:31.52. this time puts Zavala at second place all time in the record books as the previous record was set back in 2013 by Nate Mathews with a time of 2:31.44s
 
Mile
Thomas Kressly recorded fifth In the men's mile race with a time of 4:25.39. Kerry Flower earned seventh with 5:33.27.
 
3000m
Veronica Dailet for the Golden Eagles finished in fourth place in the women's 3000m race with a time of 10:48.58
 
Field Events:
 
Weight Throw
In the women's weight throw, SUNY Brockport placed three women in the top five in the event. Alayna Fredenburg placed first in the weight throw as she hit a new personal record with a throw of 16.70m. Fredenburgs throw keeps her in third place all time in program history beating her old record of 16.41m. Sarah Crockett finished in second place with a throw of 16.07m with Emma Kinnicutt earning a fourth place finish with a mark of 15.10m. for the men, Matt Faulis finished in third place with a throw of 16.51m while Connor Ferris took home 4th place with a mark of 16.22m. Elijah Wahington earned seventh in the event with 15.66m.
 
Shot Put
Art Jordan, the reigning Prestosport Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week took home first place in the shot put with a throw of 16.15m. Alex Rood finished In third place with a throw of 15.69m and Elijah Washington with a throw of 14.83m. John Demy took home sixth with 14.26m and Matt Faulise eighth with 13.88m. For the women, Sarah Crockett won shot put once again, this time with a throw of 13.51m. Meleenah Ortiz earned third with 12.20m and Ellie Ramirez 5th with 11.88m.
 
Long Jump
Josh Jeziorski earned first place in the men's long jump event with a total distance of 7.03m Dion Putaski earned third with a mark of 6.59m. for the women, Halle King of the Golden Eagles earned a fourth place finish leaping for a mark of 5.29m.
 
Triple Jump
Chanyce Powell was the Golden Eagles top triple jumper earning second place with 11.43m mark. Mia Montgomery finished right behind her with 10.91m. Michaela Lecesque took home seventh place with 10.23m. For the men's triple jump, D'Andre Hunter managed to take home fifth place with a leap of 13.08m.
 
High Jump
In the high jump, the Golden Eagles earned three of the top five positions. Michaela Levesque took home second place with a mark of 1.61m with Halle King earning third place with 1.56m. Sarah Killip rounded out the top five in fifth with 1.61m.
 
SUNYAC's
Next weekend will be the men's and women's indoor track and field SUNYAC Championshios. They will be hosted by SUNY Brockport and take place at the SERC on Friday and Saturday February 25th and 26th.
