Brockport Baseball Stays Hot in Florida

AUBRNDALE, FL – The SUNY Brockport Baseball team got its morning started with a win on Friday defeating SUNY Canton 15-2 at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, FL.
 
Batting Summery
Tom Kretzler led the Golden Eagles bats as he went 2-3 with a double and grand slam scoring two runs and driving a total of four RBIs. Nicholas Pastore went 2-4 including a triple with three RBIs. James Houlahan also went 2-4 at the plate driving in 1 RBI and scoring two runs.
 
Pitch Summery
Colin Pytlak (2-0) got the win for SUNY Brockport as he went three innings giving up two hits, one earned run and striking out six batters. Nick Lawlor went 1.1 innings allowing one unearned run and a strikeout before Matthew Colucci came into pitch. Colucci went .2 innings striking out one batter. Adam Douglas pitched the sixth inning where he struck out three batters before Matthew Denatale shut down the Kangaroo's in the seventh striking out two batters along the way.
 
Scoring Summery
 
2nd inning
Following a scoreless first, with Ryan Voight and Jake Sisto each reaching base to start off the inning, Nicholas Pastore singled to left field to drive in Ryan Voight on an unearned RBI. Justin Pangburn would later drive in Sisto on a single to center field to make it a 2-0 ball game at the end of the second inning. Brockport recorded three hits, two runs leaving three men on base.
 
3rd Inning
With Tom Kretzler on second base with an inning opening double to right field and a walk from Voight and hit by pitch to Sisto, the bases were loaded and off a wild pitch allowed Tom Kretzler to score from third to advance all runners a base. Nicholas Pastore would then hit a triple down the right field line to drive in both Voight and Sisto making it a 5-0 ballgame.  In the same inning with Pastore on third and Ryan Mansell on second following a walk and steal of second base, James Houlahan hit a single to advance Pastore home and Mansell to third. After Matt O'Dair was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Tom Kretzler drove a shot deep over the left center fence for the Golden Eagles first grand slam of the season. Kretzler's grand slam would break the lead wide open. Following a run by SUNY Canton in the bottom of the third, the Golden Eagles would hold onto a to a 10-1 ballgame. The Golden Eagles ended the inning with eight runs on five hits.
 
5th inning
Following two back to back bases loaded walks by Ryan Voight and Jake Sisto in top of the inning and a SUNY Canton run in the bottom of the 5th Brockport would have a 12-2 lead going into the sixth.
 
6th inning
After a Zack Goldberg walk and a Nick Ianniello base hit that advanced Goldberg to third base, Sam Law doubled down the left field line to drive in Goldberg to make it a 13-2 game.
 
7th inning
With bases loaded, Alan Michael LeFrois reached on a fielder's choice that drove in Zach Harter and Zach Eldred to give Brockport the 15-2 lead.
 
With SUNY Canton failing to come within 10 runs after the seventh inning the Golden Eagles would win by mercy rule in seven innings for the teams sixth win in a row to remain undefeated while in Florida.
 
The Golden Eagles finished the game with 15 runs, three hits and one error as the pitching staff all together recorded a total of 13 strikeouts.

The Golden Eagles will play their final game on this Florida trip Saturday, March 19th 1t 9:15am on field #6 at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, FL.
