BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport baseball team (12-2) tied its longest single season winning streak at 10 games on Thursday evening after defeating Fredonia State (9-7) in both games of the SUNYAC/Home Opening by scored of 14-1 and 12-1. The teams win makes it the 100th time the Golden Eagles have defeated the Blue Devils in program history. The Golden Eagles set the programs longest winning streak at 10 games during the 2021 season where the team finished 18-7 through a shortened covid season and managed to clinch a spot in the SUNYAC Tournament.
Nicholas Pastore went 4-6 on the day scoring five runs, three RBIs one double and one triple. His triple now ties him for second place on the all-time single season triples record with four the season. The current record is set at five. First baseman
Ryan Voight was able to get three hits in six at bats including four runs, two RBIs and a double.
Matt O'Dair combined for a total of six RBIs between the two games going 5-7 scoring two runs in the game.
Eight different Golden Eagles recorded extra base hits made up of doubles from
Tom Kretzler,
Ryan Voight Brian Tietjen,
Nicholas Pastore and
Justin Pangburn with Pastore hitting the teams only triple for the day. Three Golden Eagles also hit three home runs which came from
Ryan Mansell,
Tom Kretzler, and
Ryan Mroczka.
The Golden Eagles pitching staff came up big once again as they combined for a .560 ERA for the day as five different pitchers saw action on the mound.

Batting Summary
The Golden Eagles defeated Fredonia State in Game 1 by a score of 14-1. Eight different Golden Eagles scored runs in the game as
Tom Kretzler and
Nicholas Pastore both scored three.
Tom Kretzler had a big game at the plater going 3-4 with one home run and one double to go along with one RBI.
Ryan Mroczka also managed to hit a home run off of his hometowns college team as
Ryan Mansell also hit a deep ball over the fence for his second home run of the season.
Pitching Summary
Andrew Huffman (4-0) recorded six more innings of scoreless baseball as the fifth year senior continues his scoreless streak as through this season, he's pitched 23.1 innings without allowing a single run scored. Today on the mound he gave up just four hits and recorded seven strikeouts.
Adam Douglas (1-0) came into relief in the seventh inning and recorded two strikeouts through facing three batters. Keegan Jarvis came into relief at the top of the eighth inning striking out two batters without allowing a run to score.
Michael Heilig closed out the game for Brockport where the sophomore also struck out two batters allowing on one hit and one unearned run.

Batting Summary
Nicholas Pastore was the team's hot bat in game going 3-4 at the plate scoring two runs and three RBIs in game two. After today's performance Pastore leads the team in batting average hitting .370 with 17 hits in 36 at bats. He also leads the team amongst eligible players in slugging percentage with .696%.
Matt O'Dair also had a big game two also going 3-4 at the plate scoring one run and driving in three RBIs.
James Houlahan and
Justin Pangburn both went 2-3 with Pangburn scoring one while
Ryan Mansell went 2-2 scoring one run and driving in an RBI.
Jake Sisto,
Ryan Voight all managed hits as both
Brian Tietjen and Fran Vanzillotta recorded hits coming off the bench in pinch hitter roles. Tietjen drove in two runs hitting a double in his only at bat of the game.
Pitching Summary
All Eyes were on
Tom Kretzler (2-0) as the Brockport home run king went the distance on the mound throwing all seven innings in game two of the double header. Kretzler's had a No-Hitter going into the sixth inning of work on the bump before giving up his first of only two hits in the game. Kretzler was dominant as he still threw the complete game for Brockport striking out eight batters through seven innings and allowing only one run. Kretzler is also now second in the teams batting average as he's hitting .346 with 18 hits through 52 at bats.
What's Next
The Golden Eagles will next attempt to break the programs all time longest winning record on Saturday, March 26th against Fredonia in the third and final game of the season series where they'll also try for the series sweep. The time and location for that game has yet to be announced.
