Geneseo, NY – The SUNY Brockport track and field teams began the outdoor season on Saturday at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational. After day one of the weekend was complete, Brockport had athletes in four events already record regional qualifying marks.
Paul Suflita ran his regional qualifying time of 31:51.42 on the way to a first-place finish in the men's 10,000-meter event. In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Veronica Dailey placed third with a regional qualifying time of 12:00.68.
Clocking in at 49.12, the women's 4x100 squad of
Aniyah McGhie,
Satin Holmes,
Marissa Wise, and
Sarah Levine took first. They also met the All-Atlantic Regional qualifying standard. Clearing the regional qualifying mark in the women's triple jump,
Chanyce Powell won the event with a distance of 11.80 meters.
Art Jordan and John Demy both placed inside the top five for the men's shot put. Jordan won the event with his distance of 15.50 meters. Demy was fifth with a throw of 14.14 meters. Jordan and Devin Kipp earned third and fourth in the men's discus event. Jordan recorded a distance of 44.76 meters and Kipp threw 44.50 meters.
Sarah Crockett won the women's shot put with her first throw, which measured out at 13.54 meters.
Alayna Fredenburg registered a throw of 37.91 meters to win the women's javelin throw. Crockett was also third in the women's discus with a 38.31 meter toss.
Emma Kinnicutt placed fifth with her throw of 36.04 meters.
Clearing a height of 1.50 meters in the women's high jump,
Sarah Killip took third place. Josh Jeziorski (6.98m) and Dion Putaski (6.58m) placed second and third respectively in the men's long jump. Freshman D'Andre Hunter took fourth place in his first collegiate showing in the men's triple jump with a distance of 12.78 meters.
Individually,
Satin Holmes and Sara Levine placed third and fourth in the women's 100-meter dash. Holmes ran a 12.801 to narrowly edge her teammate, as Levine ran a 12.809. Josh Jeziorski finished third on the men's side of the 100-meter event, finishing in 11.18.
The Golden Eagles continue their work at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational on Sunday for the second and final day of the competition. The final events of the weekend are scheduled to begin at 12 pm out in Geneseo.
