Brockport Sits in Second Following Day One of Geneseo Quad Meet

The SUNY Brockport women's team sits in second place with 43 points and the men's team sits in third place with four points following day one of the Geneseo quad meet on Saturday.  Saturday's action featured men's decathlon, women's heptathlon, 5K, 10K, women's javelin and women's discus. The rest of the events will take place on Sunday beginning at 10:30am.  The meet features host Geneseo, as well as Brockport, Ithaca, Nazareth and University of Rochester.

Freshman Maleenah Ortiz hit a massive PR in the discus as she placed first with a regional qualifying toss of 39.74m.  Her throw ranks 10th all-time at Brockport.  Sarah Crocket placed third with a throw of 37.70m and Emma Kinnicutt placed fifth with a toss of 36.97m in the discus.

Kerry Flower posted a regional qualifying time of 39:47.53 in the 10k, a new personal best which ranks seventh all-time at Brockport. Gabriel Winters-Bona placed fourth in the men's 5k with a time of 15:49.97 to pick up four team points for the Golden Eagles. 
 
Five Golden Eagles placed in the top ten of the women's javelin competition. Alayna Fredenburg led the way with a regional qualifying throw of 35.96m, good for second place overall. Ellie Ramirez placed third with a throw of 33.42m and Emily Beattie placed fifth with a throw of 32.99m.  Michelle Russotti placed sixth (39.93m) and Sarah Armenia placed ninth (25.34m). 
 
Brockport's Carson Swierski currently sits in eighth place in the decathlon with a score of 2613 through five events. His day was highlighted by a second place finish in the decathlon shot put with a throw of 10.26m. 

Brockport's Madison Baker sits in 11th place in the women's heptathlon with a day one score of 1887. Hunter Czajkowski is in 13th place with a score of 1405.  Baker's day was highlighted by second place finishes in the heptathlon high jump (1.32m) and shot put (7.71m).
