Kretzler Records Career Home Runs #28 & #29 in Baseballs 16-5 Win Over St. John Fisher College

PITTSFORD, NY – The SUNY Brockport baseball team traveled to and defeated St. John Fisher College on Tuesday by a score of 16-5.
 
Pitching Highlights
Justin DelVecchio (2-1) captured the win coming out of the bullpen to start the second inning and from there threw 5.1 innings where he only allowed one run to score while striking out two batters during that time. Nick Ianniello would later take over for DelVecchio throwing 1.2 innings not allowing a run to score before Jake Jempty would strike out three batters in the bottom of the ninth inning to close out the game.
 
Heated Bats
The Golden Eagles' bats were hot as the team recorded five home runs against the Cardinals. Nicholas Pastore, Zach Eldred, and Justin Pangburn all recorded home runs with Tom Kretzler hitting a home run in both the first and ninth inning of the game.
 
Ryan Mansell, Matt O'Dair, Brian Tietjen, and Justin Pangburn would all go 2-4 in the game with Pangburn recording a team-high five RBIs followed by Kretzler's four RBIs against St. John Fisher. Jake Sisto and Ryan Voight would each record hits as the team combined for 14 total hits in the game.
 
Game Recap
Brockport started the game hot taking a 7-2 lead in the first three innings of the ballgame. Brockport would take a 3-0 lead in the top of the first from a Matt O'Dair RBI double and a two-run home run by Tom Kretzler, his seventh of the season and 28th of his career.
 
After St. John Fisher recorded two runs in the bottom of the first, Ryan Mansell would make it a 4-2 game by driving Brian Tietjen off a double to right field.
 
With one out in the top of the third, Zach Eldred would record his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot to right field. Justin Pangburn would later hit a double down the left-field line to drive in Tietjen and Ryan Voight pushing Brockport's lead to 7-2.
 
Brockport wouldn't score again until the sixth inning when O'Dair drove in Mansell and Pastore hit a solo shot to right field to give the Golden Eagles an eight-run lead.
 
Fisher would score in the bottom half of the sixth, but Brockport would keep it a seven-run lead following Pangburn's sacrifice fly to right field to score Jake Sisto making it a 10-3 ballgame.
 
Brockport would keep the throttle down in the ninth inning as Eldred would score on a wild pitch and Jason Mansell scored off a Tietjen walk. Chris martin would pinch run for Tietjen before Justin Pangburn recorded his third home run of the year of a two-run shot to left giving the Golden Eagles the 14-3 lead.
 
Kretzler would finish the day with his second home run of the game, tying his single-season career-high eight home runs from last season and now recording 29 total home runs in his career.
 
What's Ahead
Brockport is currently on a 20 home game winning streak and look to extend that winning streak against the University of Rochester on Wednesday, April 27th at 4 p.m. at the Clark V. Whited Complex in Brockport, NY.
 
The Golden Eagles will then host SUNY New Paltz for a weekend SUNYAC Series on Friday and Saturday, April 29th and 30th. April 30th will begin with senior day events with a senior student-athlete BBQ where all graduating student-athletes will be honored in between games of Saturday's doubleheader.
