OSWEGO, NY – The #22 SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles baseball team fell to #12 SUNY Cortland on day 1 of the SUNYAC Tournament in Oswego, NY by a close score of 6-5.

Record Breaker: Appearing in his 173 career game for the Golden Eagles,
Tom Kretzler broke the program's record for the most games played in a career in a Golden Eagles uniform after breaking Max Zimmerman's (2008-2011) record of appearing in 172 games.
Kretzler also broke the program's record for the most RBIs in a career after his three-run home run in the first inning of the game gives him a total of 151 career RBIs. The previous record was held by Zimmerman at 149.
Batting Recap: Designated hitter
Ryan Voight captured two hits including a double in today's game leading the team with his efforts. With a base hit
James Houlahan and
Ryan Mansell's double, both recorded similar stats as each captured one hit while scoring one run and driving in an RBI each.
Nicholas Pastore,
Matt O'Dair, and
David Belsito would all record hits in today's game too
On The Mound: Andrew Huffman (8-2) got his 11th start of the season. Through five strong innings, Huffman struck out a total of five batters while holding the No. 12 team in the country to score only five runs on seven hits.
Matthew Colucci would enter from the bullpen in the sixth inning and struck out two batters while allowing one run to score through 1.2 innings.
Adam Douglas would then enter with one out remaining in the eight and retire the first batter he saw.
Scoring Summary: Kretzler got Brockport off to an early lead wherein the top of the first, following walks from Mansell and Houlahan, would record a three-run home run to get Brockport off to an early 3-0 lead.
Brockport would then get out to a 4-0 lead following
Ryan Mansell's fielder choice hit would allow
David Belsito to score.
Through the third and fifth inning, Cortland would bounce back and tie the game up before Brockport would get out to a 5-4 lead in the sixth after Houlahan's sacrifice fly out to left field that would drive in Belsito for his second run of the game.
In the bottom of the seventh, Cortland would regain the lead following a two-RBI base hit that would give them a 6-5 lead.
No more runs would score in the game as Cortland would defeat Brockport with a final score of 6-5.
SUNYAC Tournament: #22 SUNY Brockport will now face Plattsburgh State tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. in an elimination game with the winner playing the loser of the 1:00 p.m. #11 Oswego State vs #12 SUNY Cortland game. The third game of the day featuring the winner of tomorrow's game one and the loser of tomorrow's game two will take place at approximately 4:00 p.m.
