#21 Baldwin Wallace Walks it Off Against #23 SUNY Brockport in Game 1 of the NCAA Regionals; Brockport to Face #22 Wheaton (MA) Saturday at 8:30am

BROCKPORT, NY – The #23 SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles fell to the #21 Baldwin Wallace (BW)Yellow Jackets in the first game of the NCAA Division III Brockport Regional Tournament by a score of 4-3 following a BW ninth-inning walk-off hit. The Golden Eagles were labeled as the away team with BW the home team for the first round of the regional tournament giving Brockport the first at-bats of the game.
 
Tom Kretzler broke yet another program record today when his only hit in the game gave him 61 total hits this season giving him the record for most hits in a single season. James Houlahan trails Kretzler by just three hits as the second baseman has tallied 58 hits this season after his 3-for-3 day at the plate today.
 
Tom Kretzler got the start on the mound for Brockport where he threw seven complete innings on the mound striking out a total of six batters. Kretzler now has a 2.07 ERA with a .99 WHIP. He's thrown a total of 69.2 innings this season while striking out 71 total batters and puts him at third for the most strikeouts in a single season behind teammate Andrew Huffman (88) and Kyle Smith who has 79 Ks in 2011.

Zach Eldred had the most impactful hit for the Golden Eagles against the Yellow Jackets when his only hit of the day came at the top of the first inning on a three-run home run to right field to put Brockport up 3-0 in the top of the first. BW tallied its own solo shot in the bottom half of the first inning to make it a 3-1 game which lasted until the sixth inning before the Yellow Jackets tied the game up at 3-3. With the game still tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Baldwin Wallace was able to get runners on first and second with one out before hitting a walk-off single to end the game.
 
The Golden Eagles will now play in the first elimination game of the tournament tomorrow at 8:30 am against Wheaton College (MA). The winner of that game will then go on to play the loser of the 12:00 pm Baldwin Wallace vs Johnson and Wales (JWU) game. Game five of the weekend tournament on Saturday, May 21st will begin at approximately 3:30 pm.
