Men's Soccer Set for Busy Week with Three Non-Conference Matches

BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's soccer team will take on three opponents this week as they'll host Houghton at 7 pm on Tuesday, September 13th before traveling to Ithaca, Friday the 16th, and then to Medaille the next day at 7:00 pm.
 
The Golden Eagles finally snapped their tying streak on Saturday night by defeating Nazareth 1-0. At 5:42 in the first period. Russ Domm found the back of the net after Seamus Parker sent him the ball from across the box. Domm now leads the team with two goals so far this season.
The physical match-up made for a fast 90 minutes with the Green and Gold outshooting the Golden Flyers 12-9. Each team had four shots on goal and Brockport provided the only score of the match.
 
AOTW: For his back-to-back shutout matches, Andrew Taylor earned this week's defensive SUNYAC Athlete of the Week award. Junior Taylor recorded two shutouts and went unbeaten with a 1-0-1 record against St. John Fisher University and Nazareth last week. Against Fisher, Taylor earned the shutout by making just one save in the match while making four saves in Saturday night's shutout against the Golden Flyers. He spent 180:00-minutes in net.
 
With four points so far, transfer, Russ Domm is the team's leader in goals with two. Trailing him totaling three points with one goal and one assist each are Seamus Parker and Matthew Stefaniw. Defensemen Josh Fitzpatrick, Kolbi Maddy and Dylan Rippe currently lead the team in minutes played with 360:00-minutes.
 
Looking at Houghton: The Highlanders have started off the season 1-4 with its most recent loss to Fredonia State by a score of 2-1. Houghton's offense is led by Iann Dominic with two goals while Alex Kallvoda and Kyle Thyssen have each tallied three points from one goal and assist. Sam Carpenter has tallied a 1-2 record while in goal for Houghton allowing three goals and recording 14 saves.
 
Looking at Ithaca: The Bombers are off to a 0-3-1 start to begin their 2022 season. Prior to facing Brockport, Ithaca will host Hamilton College on Wednesday, September 14th. Nathan Waychoff leads Ithaca's offense with just one goal while Jared Krasnove is the team's assist leader with one. Ian Whitfield has spent all 360:00-minutes in goal where he's allowed seven goals in four games for 1.75 goals against average. His 10 saves on 17 shots on goal leave him with a 0.588 save percentage.
 
Looking at Medaille: The Mavericks are 3-0-1 to start the season with Ander Castillo leading the Mavericks with 20 points in four games. So far, he's scored nine goals and two assists. Four other Mavericks gave tallied four points this season as Sean Burke and Bryce Koagel have two goals to their stats while Rodrigo Fernandez has one goal and two assists with Samuel Wickins leading the team in assists with four. Dante Gesamondo (1-0-1) leads Medaille's four goalkeepers having spent 180:00 minutes in net. He's allowed three goals while making 11 saves.
