Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team defeated RIT on the road Wednesday night, 3-1, in some non-conference action. Winning sets one, three, and four, Brockport improves to 6-2 overall this season.
With nine service aces in the match,
Jordan Thompson ties the second most aces in a single match in program history. The record of 10 aces was set by Linda Willis back in 1983. Thompson also added 11 kills and four total blocks.
Andrea Coyle also had 11 kills to go with two aces, 10 digs, and one block assist.
Myah Frostclapp had four block assists, nine kills, and two aces. Freshman
Alexis Sison got in on the party offensively with nine kills.
Setter
Kerri McHale fed her teammates all night, tallying 36 assists. McHale also contributed with two aces and two block assists.
Madalyn Bowen led the way with 17 digs in the match for the Green and Gold.
The Golden Eagles dominated the first set right from the jump, taking an early 11-2 lead. They marched past RIT in the opening set for the 25-9 win. Brockport got out to another quick advantage at 7-2 in the second. However, RIT was ready to battle and took set number two by a score of 25-21.
Service aces were a big story for Brockport, as the squad cashed in on 18 aces against the Tigers. Racking up a bunch of quick points helped the team march through the third set for another 25-9 win. The fourth set started off as a closer contest, but the Golden Eagles pulled away for the 25-15 win to seal the match, 3-1.
Brockport heads to Greenville, PA this weekend to compete at the Thiel Tournament hosted by Thiel College. Down in Pennsylvania the team will matchup with Thiel on Friday at 7:30pm, Alma on Saturday at 10am, and Grove City on Saturday at 2pm.
