BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's soccer team won its first conference match on Wednesday evening against the Oswego State Lakers by a score of 1-0. The team improves its record to 3-1-4 overall and 1-0-0 in the SUNYAC, while Oswego State falls to 2-4-1 and 0-1-1 in the conference.

Russ Domm scored the game-winning goal for Brockport as he was assisted by
Max Voyer from a free kick. Voyer's free kick landed just inside the box and after a bit of a scrum, Domm came away with the ball and placed it in the back of the at the 6:24 mark into the second half of the match.
The Golden Eagles outshot Oswego State 14-11 while earning more shots on goals against its opponents 5-4. Both goalkeepers in the match had four total saves while Brockport earned one more corner kick than Oswego State with 4-3. Oswego State managed to earn more fouls than Brockport 13-7 while also earning three yellow cards compared to Brockport's one yellow card in the match.
Russ Domm led the Golden Eagles shots category with five shots while his only shot on goal found the back of the net.
Matthew Stefaniw was second on the team in shots with four shots, two being on net.
Dylan Rippe's two shots were both on goal while
Warren Banks fired off two shots and
Max Voyer one shot. Six Golden Eagles spent the full 90-minutes on the pitch including goalkeeper

Kolbi Maddy,
Jacob Wlostowski and
Josh Fitzpatrick,
Dylan Rippe, and
Alex Rivara.
In net,
Andrew Taylor recorded his SUNYAC-leading fourth shutout of the year against Oswego State. He now has the second lowest goal against average (0.63) and second highest save percentage (.821) in the conference. The only other goalkeeper above him in those categories is Potsdam's Lucas Schiel, whom Brockport will face this upcoming weekend.
This upcoming \ will be a special one because the team will host its inaugural ALS Awareness Game on Saturday, September 24
th as the Golden Eagles host SUNY Potsdam for SUNYAC action at 1 p.m. The fundraiser will support the ALS Association Upstate New York Chapter as well as Joseph LaPietra, brother of Head Coach
Gary LaPietra. Joseph is currently battling ALS, an illness commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
