ELMIRA, NY – The SUNY Brockport field hockey team earned its second straight shutout to start the season by defeating the Elmira Soaring Eagles 7-0.
Team Stats: As a team, the Golden Eagles had a collective of 40 shots with 29 shots on goal. The defense for the Green and Gold was no match for Elmira's offense as they only allowed a total of five shots in the game with only two of them being on goal. Brockport also dominated in penalty corners as they received a total of 11 corners to Elmira's three. The Golden Eagles also cut their fouls down from the last game as they only received 23 to Elmira's 17 fouls.
Another Big Game: Tiffany Andres and
Katelynn Mello both had yet another big game as each tallied a total of three points from one goal and one assist.
Paige Thowe,
Bailey Lazore,
Kalena Eaton, and
Quinn Guy all scored for the Green and Gold against Elmira along with Ava Holiday scoring the first goal of her collegiate career in the game as well. Along with Andres and Mello,
Kaitlyn Aitken also received an assist in the game
Brick Walls: In the Cage,
Ella Buchanan picked up her second shutout of the season as she spent the first full three quarters in the cage not having to make a single save against the Soaring Eagles.
Katelynn Banning played the final quarter of the game where she stopped two of Elmira's shots without allowing a goal.
1st Half Stats: The Golden Eagles started off slow by only scoring one goal in the first quarter from fifth-year senior
Katelynn Mello. The second quarter of the game was once again all Brockport which started off with a goal from
Kalena Eaton followed by another from
Quinn Guy that was assisted by
Tiffany Andres to make it a 3-0 game.
Bailey Lazore would score the final goal of the first half off an assist from
Kaitlyn Aitkens making it a 4-0 Golden Eagles lead heading into halftime.
2nd Half Stats: The second half of the game was no different which saw Brockport score its final three goals of the game all in the third quarter.
Tiffany Andres scored her third goal of the season with
Paige Thowe scoring Brockport's sixth goal of the game only to have Ava Holiday score the team's seventh and final goal just 20-second after Thowe's with an assist from
Katelynn Mello. The game would remain 7-0 for the entire fourth quarter of the game giving Brockport its second win to begin the season and outscoring its two opponents 18-0.

Krista Archambeau stated. "Every player had a role in our success. I'm very proud of the team for playing as one unit and finishing the game strong."
What's Next: The Golden Eagles will next travel to Pittsford, NY where they'll face the Nazareth Golden Flyers on Wednesday, September 7
th under the lights at 6 pm.
