Brockport Wins 3-0 in Sweep Over Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's volleyball team took care of business on the road against Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday night. Brockport swept the Red Hawks, 3-0, improving to 3-1 overall.

Jordan Thompson and Andrea Coyle each had 10 kills in the match to lead the squad. Thompson also finished with a pair of block assists and three service aces. Coyle got down for eight digs and had one block assist.

Myah Frostclapp had seven kills and a .600 attack percentage on the night. She also chipped in with a service ace, one assist, and one block assist. Madalyn Bowen tallied 10 digs, while Kerri McHale racked up 23 assists.

Freshmen Julia Reedy and Maren Lutz both made their collegiate debuts against the Red Hawks. Reedy had quite the showing in her first taste of college play, recording eight kills and a .438 attack percentage. Lutz got her first look at NCAA competition in the final set of the match, coming up with three digs.

In the first set of the match, the Golden Eagles got right to work building an early lead. With Maddie Farnsworth on the serve, they scored seven straight points which included three service aces.

Soon the score would have Brockport ahead 16-7, but a quick spurt put Roberts within just three points. Jordan Thompson finished the set strong with four kills down the stretch to help secure the first set, 25-16.

Set number two was a back-and-forth affair, with the Golden Eagles earning a slight 17-15 edge. It was Maddie Farnsworth on the serve again that sparked a run to create some further separation on the scoreboard. The team went on to take the set, 25-19.

The third set was controlled by the Green and Gold from start to finish. After working for a 10-5 lead, Jordan Thompson on the serve pushed the advantage ahead to a 16-7 score.

Alenna Williamson would get her chance to serve next and during that rotation Brockport would put the game away. The squad scored seven points in a row to eventually complete the match sweep by a 25-13 win in set three.

The Golden Eagles are home this weekend as they welcome the University of Rochester (U of R), William Smith, and Hamilton for the Brockport Invite. Their first home match of the season is scheduled for 7 pm on Friday against William Smith. On Saturday the team faces the U of R at 11:30 am and Hamilton later at 1:30 pm.
