Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's indoor track and field team scored 58 points to place fifth at the Utica Winter Opener meet on Saturday.
Josh Jeziorski and
Howard Nix were both inside the top three for the long jump competition. Jeziorski logged a distance of 7.22 meters for first place. Nix leaped a 6.69 to take third in the event.
The Golden Eagles grabbed a bunch of points with three top-10 finishers in the 800-meter.
Jonathan Zavala placed third at 1:59.09,
Kevin Fischer was fourth at 2:00.13, and
Thomas Kressly ran a 2:01.53 for ninth.
Jared Smith snagged a point from the 5000-meter race, taking eighth with a time of 15:33.94.
Clocking in at 4:15.41,
Jonathan Zavala placed third in the men's mile event.
Freshman
Ayden Grinion took fifth place in the 400-meter with a time of 52.41. Teammate
Michael Durski rounded out the top 10 in the event with a 54.54.
Ledreth Velez-Olmo finished 10
th in the 500-meter event at 1:11.91.
Finishing in 23.09,
Josh Jeziorski earned fifth place in the 200-meter.
Dillon VanDemortel's time of 8:49.99 was good for eight place in the 3000-meter event.
Jacob DeWilde placed ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 13.38 meters.
Jason Marincic also took ninth in the shot put with a 13.03.
In the high jump event, freshman
Mark Simmons earned fourth with a clearance mark of 1.81 meters.
Dillon Murphy took 10
th by clearing 1.71.
With a distance of 12.71 meters, Joe Gefell was able to place sixth in the triple jump on the day.
The Golden Eagles will host their next meet, the Winter Welcome Back to Brockport Meet. The action is scheduled for Saturday, January 21
st at The SERC.
