Men's Soccer Claims No. 2 Seed Following 4-1 Win Over Potsdam

Potsdam, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's soccer team clinched the No. 2 seed for the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament with Saturday's, 4-1, win over Potsdam. The Golden Eagles finish the regular season 9-2-5 overall and undefeated at 6-0-3 in conference play.
 
They locked up the second seed for the postseason with 18 points in the SUNYAC standings. The Green and Gold earns a first-round bye and the right to host a semifinal matchup. It the first time the program has earned a pass through the opening round since 2015.
 
In the final game of the regular season, the Potsdam Bears came out swinging early on. They took a 1-0 lead into halftime after a goal from Zach Cunningham at 19:29 in the first half. Despite trailing at the break, Brockport outshot Potsdam 13-4 in the half.
 
The Golden Eagles went on to outshoot the Bears, 17-3 in the second half on the way to a comeback win. They first got on the board at 61:58, thanks to Eric Ramirez's goal which was assisted by Chuck Domm. Ramirez tied the score up at 1-1.
 
Just a few minutes later Chuck Domm gave the squad its first lead of the game at 2-1, scoring the unassisted goal. Chuck came back at 70:19 with his second score of the contest, getting an assist from his brother Russ Domm.
 
Now leading the Bears, 3-1, the Green and Gold added one more insurance goal in the final five minutes. At 85:10, Peter Tinaj scored the last goal of the game with an assist coming from Sean Lee.
 
Andrew Taylor made four saves and allowed one goal in the contest. Taylor helped secure the 4-1 victory for the Golden Eagles on the road to close out the regular season schedule.
 
Brockport's first-round bye means the team will be hosting for the SUNYAC Semifinals on Wednesday, November 1st. The opponent will be decided based on the results of the opening round matchups, which are set to be played on Saturday, October 28th.
