Brockport, NY – On Tuesday night, the Golden Eagle men's basketball team will be on the road for a matchup against Hunter College. Tip-off is set for 5pm for this non-conference game.
Last Weekend: Brockport was on the road this past weekend, picking up wins against both Keystone College and Salisbury University. With the 95-54 win over Keystone,
Joe Clarke claimed his first win as Head Coach. The very next day the team pulled out a tight victory against Salisbury, 68-66. Heading into this week, Brockport is sporting a 2-1 record.
Arnold's Game-Winner: The last win for the squad against Salisbury was finalized in the last few seconds of regulation. In the final moments,
Tony Arnold drove to the basket for what became the game-winning layup with just two seconds left to play. He finished with 10 points in the contest, helping the Green and Gold win back-to-back games on the weekend.
Leading Scorers: Early in the season,
Mekhi Beckett has established himself as the team's leading scorer so far. He is averaging 17.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, shooting 52.2% from the field and 50% from downtown.
Tony Arnold is second on the team with 12.7 points a night. He also leads the team with 10 assists in three games and is grabbing 4.0 rebounds a game.
Career-High Performances: In Brockport's blowout win over Keystone, both
Jacob Oka and
Zachary Rice set new personal-bests on the stat sheet. Oka set career-highs of 18 points and 12 boards, posting the first double-double of his collegiate career. Rice started the game hot from beyond the arc and finished with career-highs of 12 points (4-for-6 3pt) and three steals.
Scouting Hunter: The Hunter College Hawks are 2-3 overall prior to Tuesday night's game with the Golden Eagles. They most recently defeated St. Joseph's University of Brooklyn last weekend, 84-72. The Hawks had four double-digit scorers in the contest. #22 Luka Jakic led the team with a double-double, finishing with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Jakic is currently averaging 12.6 points and 9.8 boards a night for Hunter.
