Golden Eagles Look to Stay Hot Against Alfred

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team is on the road Tuesday night for a matchup against Alfred University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
 
Last Time Out: Last week the Golden Eagles picked up their third win in a row, improving to 3-1 on the season. They defeated Hunter College on the road, 70-67. With the score tied in the final minute, Brockport took a 3-point lead and held on through the final buzzer for the victory.
 
Arnold's Heroics: In back-to-back games, Tony Arnold has come up clutch late in regulation to win it for Brockport. He scored the game-winning layup with less than five seconds left in the team's 68-66 win over Salisbury. Then against Hunter College he broke the 67-67 tie with a basket, plus a foul shot, in the final 30 seconds. Arnold is currently averaging 14.3 points, 3.8 boards, and 3.0 assists per game.
 
Making an Impact: Mekhi Beckett is the leading scorer for the Golden Eagles early on this season, averaging 18.7 points a night. He is shooting a healthy 50% from long range and is grabbing 4.7 rebounds a game.
 
Jacob Oka (6.0 rpg) and Tyler Cowie (5.0 rpg) are the top rebounders for Brockport so far. Oka notched his first career double-double (18pts-12reb) against Keystone College. Cowie is second on the team in blocks (4), swatting away one shot in each game.
 
Colby Jordan has played well to start his junior campaign, shooting a strong percentage from the floor (53.8% FG) and limiting turnovers (3). Jordan is averaging 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
 
Zachary Rice has gotten the starting nod in all four games for the Green and Gold after not starting a single game as a freshman last season. He leads the team with nine steals and is shooting 42.1% from long range.
 
Scouting Alfred: The Alfred University Saxons are currently 2-3 heading into the matchup with Brockport. They are looking to bounce back from a loss against Hilbert College last week, as they fell, 79-66 ,on the road. #1 Adam Enders is averaging 13.0 points a game for the Saxons as their top scorer, hitting 15 3-pointers already this season. As a team Alfred is scoring 61.6 points per game, while shooting 41.2% from the floor, 32.7% from deep, and 61% at the foul line.
 
SUNYAC Play Starting: Following another non-conference matchup on Tuesday night, the Green and Gold will prepare to begin SUNYAC play this weekend. The team's first taste of conference play is scheduled for Friday, December 1st against Oneonta at 7:30pm. Conference play continues Saturday, December 2nd when New Paltz comes to town for a 4pm game.
 
Finally Coming Home: This weekend the Golden Eagles will get to play on their home court for the first time this season. After opening the year with five straight road games, Brockport is set to host Oneonta on Friday (7:30pm) and New Paltz on Saturday (4pm).
