Brockport football senior kicker
Nate Wigent was named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Football NCAA Division III Team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
In order to be eligible for both All-District and All-American consideration, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, hold a 3.30 cumulative GPA or above and be a starter or important reserve for their respective teams.
Wigent, an exercise science major from Fairport, was an Empire 8 All-Conference First Team selection this past year and he is now a two-time all-conference selection following his second team nod back in 2021. This season he was one of few kickers in the entire country to perform with 100% accuracy on both field goals and extra points. Wigent went 51-for-51 on point after touchdown attempts and 5-for-5 on field goals to account for a team-high 66 total points in 2023.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on Jan. 23, 2024.
As a team, the Golden Eagles capped the 2023 season with an 8-3 overall record, advancing to the postseason for the seventh consecutive season. The Golden Eagles made an appearance in the Empire 8 Conference Championship game and also were selection to participate in the ECAC Asa S. Bushnell Bowl Game, which is considered the top bowl goal in the ECAC field.
