Women's Basketball Returns Home for We Back Pat Game and Full Weekend of Action

Brockport, NY - The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team returns home this weekend for a pair of SUNYAC matchups. The Golden Eagles will face off with SUNY Potsdam on Friday, February 3rd at 5:30pm in the We Back Pat game honoring legendary coach Pat Summit before facing off with Plattsburgh State on Saturday at 2pm.
 
We Back Pat: Friday night's game will be the annual We Back Pat game for the Golden Eagles. Brockport will be partnering with the Pat Summit Foundation to help raise money to fight Alzheimer's disease. "Brockport Backs Pat" t-shirts will be worn during warmups and donations will be accepted with all funds raised being forwarded to the Pat Summit Foundation.

Last Time Out: Despite only being down 28-27 at halftime, Brockport was outscored, 32-18 in the second half in a loss to Geneseo on the road. The team dropped their last game of the road stand, 60-43, to a strong SUNY Geneseo team that ranks 3rd in the SUNYAC with a 9-3 conference record and a 14-5 record overall. Freshman Stephanie Jean-Baptiste continued her impressive freshman campaign, leading Brockport in scoring with 14 points. She was 4-for-10 from beyond the arc, also chipping in with four boards, two steals, and a block.

SUNYAC Standouts: Senior guard Anna Felice leads all of SUNYAC in total free throws made (72) and is second in free throw percentage (82.8%). Junior forward Zairea Hannah ranks third in SUNYAC in both total rebounds (164) and rebounds per game (9.1). Freshman guard Stephanie Jean-Baptiste is currently fifth in the SUNYAC conference with three-pointers made (38) and is shooting a strong 40.3% from beyond the arc against conference opponents.     
 
Familiar Foes: The Golden Eagles are coming off a three-game road stand that saw them come away with two victories against their opponents. The first was a tight win against Plattsburgh State on January 20th, 70-68. The the second was a convincing 10-point victory against SUNY Potsdam by the score of 68-58. Brockport is now 9-10 overall and 6-6 in the SUNYAC.

Scouting Plattsburgh: Plattsburgh State holds a 6-13 record overall and a 2-10 record in conference play ahead of the weekend. The Cardinals are looking to end a 5-game-losing skid, Plattsburgh will have a road game against Geneseo on February 3rd at 5:30 before traveling to Brockport on the 4th. Plattsburgh lost the first meeting against Geneseo 84-34. They are led offensively by freshman guard Kortney McCarthy who averages 9.7 points per game.

Scouting Potsdam: The Bears are currently 7-10 Overall with a 5-7 record in SUNYAC contests and are coming off a strong 64-33 road win at Oswego where forward Jakia Howard continued her All-SUNYAC caliber season, dropping a 20-point double-double with ten rebounds and an impressive 7 steals. Howard leads the SUNYAC in PPG with 16.7 in conference matchups.  

Up Next: Following this weekend of action, the Golden Eagles will be back on the road on February 10th at Oneonta, followed by a matchup at New Paltz on February 11th.
