Oneonta, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team dropped a SUNYAC matchup to Oneonta on the road Friday night, 82-67. The Green and Gold now own a record of 17-5 overall and 12-3 in the conference.
Tony Arnold scored a new season-high for the second straight game, putting 25 points to lead all scorers on the night. He went 7-for-14 from the field, 2-for-2 from long range, and 9-for-13 at the foul line. Arnold also chipped in with eight boards and three steals.
David Grady III finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.
Jahidi Wallace and
Mekhi Beckett combined for 15 points in the contest.
Brockport got off to a slow start in this one, as Oneonta took a 9-0 lead early on in the opening half. The Red Dragons would maintain that lead, holding a 17-8 advantage halfway through the first half.
Tony Arnold got going to cut the deficit down to four points with 2:03 left before halftime. Oneonta would go into the break with a 37-31 lead.
Arnold had a big half for Brockport, scoring 18 of his game-high 25 in the first.
The Golden Eagles came into the second half and quickly made it a 2-point game at 39-37. However, Oneonta would respond immediately with a run. The hosting Red Dragons created an 11-point lead in a flash and maintained a double-digit lead for most of the half. They would lead by as many as 18 points, cruising through the finish line for the victory.
Brockport will look to bounce back on Saturday in another conference matchup. The squad heads to New Paltz for a 4pm tip-off.
