Brockport, NY – Friday night the Golden Eagles track and field teams competed at two different meets. Some athletes competed at Boston University's David Hemery Invitational, while others went to Susquehanna's River Hawk Friday Night Showdown.
River Hawk Friday Night Showdown
The women's team took first place Friday night down at Susquehanna University, totaling 138.5 points. The men's team put up a score of 111.5 to earn second as a team.
Mia Vizcaino scored three points in the women's mile, taking seventh with a time of 5:31.18.
Kelly Brown ran a regional qualifying time of 7.02 for third place and six points in the finals of the men's 60-meter dash. Teammates
Aaron Ottenwalder and
Howard Nix took sixth and seventh respectively for five more team points.
On the women's side of the 60-meters, both Sarah Levine and Mia Montgomery met the regional standard. Levine placed second with a time of 7.99 for eight points, while Montgomery grabbed four points with a fifth-place finish at 8.11.
Madison Baker ran a 10.25 to earn eight team points in the 60-meter hurdles, placing second in the finals for the event.
Freshman
Ayden Grinion placed first in the 400-meter race, clocking in at 51.85. Classmate
Michael Durski ran a 52.99 to take fifth, as the duo snagged 14 points combined from the race.
Another first year, Courtney Bostic earned first place in the women's 400-meter with a time of 1:03.61. Brianna Lawless finished seventh with a 1:07.36, as the two scored 12 points for the squad.
Brockport had three scorers total 17 points in the men's 800-meter, led by
Cassidy Gilmore's 2:00.59 that was good for second.
Lukas Walters ran a fifth-place time of 2:04.78, while
Miguel Benito's 2:06.65 earned eighth place.
The women's team also had three score in the 800-meter, as the trio scored 13 points from the event. Vanessa Ramos placed second with a 2:27.10, Lydia Cox was fourth with a 2:28.97, and Emma Mathes was eighth with a 2:30.96.
Aaron Ottenwalder and
Kelly Brown placed fourth and fifth with times of 23.31 and 23.38 in the 200-meter dash. The sprinting duo earned nine points from the race.
Hitting the regional standard for the women's 200-meter, Sarah Levine placed first with a 26.71. Courtney Bostic took sixth with a 27.80 and Brianna Lawless was seventh with a 27.82. All three teammates combined for 15 points in the event.
Stealing 18 points from the men's 3000-meter,
Gabriel Winters-Bona and
Paul Suflita took first and second in the event. Winters-Bona ran a 9:06.49, while Suflita had a time of 9:13.47.
Matthew Jackson's distance of 15.44 meters was good for fourth in the weight throw, scoring six points.
Jacob DeWilde added three more points with a throw of 14.29 meters to earn seventh.
Three throwers on the women's side hit the regional qualifying mark in the weight throw, helping to take 21 points from the event. Sarah Crockett threw a 16.02 for second place, Katrina Chandler had a 14.95 for fourth, and Emma Kinnicutt recorded a 14.56 for fifth.
Coming in third and fourth place respectively,
Alex Rood and
Jason Marincic scored 11 points in the shot put. Rood earned a mark of 13.84 meters, while Marincic was close behind with a 13.78.
The women's shot put feature four scorers for Brockport, totaling 25 points, and two throwers meeting the regional standard. Sarah Crockett hit the regional mark with her first-place distance of 13.90 meters. Trinity Dees took second, also hitting the standard, throwing an 11.56. Emma Kinnicutt took fifth with an 11.07 and Katrina Chandler was sixth with a 10.87.
Dustin Meyer hit the men's pole vault regional qualifying mark, scoring 10 team points with a first-place clearance height of 4.86 meters.
Three scored in the women's pole vault, totaling nine points in the event. Hunter Czajkowski was fifth with a 2.75, Ciara Murphy was sixth clearing 2.60, and Madison Baker cleared 2.45 for seventh place.
Mark Simmons was the men's lone scorer in the high jump, tying for fifth with a mark of 1.81 meters for 3.5 points.
Michaela Levesque and Sarah Killip took first and tied for third respectively in the women's high jump to total 15.5 points. Levesque cleared 1.57 meters, while Killip hit 1.47 meters.
Howard Nix earned third place in the long jump, leaping a distance of 6.50 meters to score six points.
Alex Irving registered a 6.23 mark to score three points in sixth place.
Mia Montgomery's distance of 10.54 meters in the women's triple jump earned her fourth place and five team points.
David Hemery Invitational
Out in Boston, Kerry Flower placed 23
rd among a highly competitive field of 69 runners with a 17:50.46 in the 5000-meter race. Flower adds her performance to the history books as the fifth fastest time in program history.
Jennifer Metz ran a time of 2:22.04 in the 800-meter event, while teammate Kaylee Haynes clocked in at 2:26.00.
With a time of 5:18.38 in the mile, Veronica Dailey registered the eighth fastest time in program history for the event.
In a field of over 200 sprinters, Clara Sensini took 97
th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.82.
In the men's 4000 distance medley relay, Brockport's team of
Thomas Kressly,
Kevin Fischer,
Nick Markle, and
Jonathan Zavala placed 15
th with a time of 10:04.42. This group cemented a spot in the history books with a new school record, finishing nearly 13 seconds faster than the previous mark.
Day two of the invitational is scheduled to start with the first events at 9am on Saturday.
