Swim & Dive Set For SUNYAC Championships at ECC in Buffalo

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport swimming and diving teams will be traveling to the Burt Flickinger Center on the downtown campus of Erie Community College to compete in the SUNYAC Championships this week from February 15th through February 18th.

Regular Season Highlights: The Women finished the 2022-2023 regular season with an overall record of 7-2 overall. The women had amazing swims and broke five records so far this season.
 
At the Golden Eagles Mid-Season meet in November at Oberlin College, Emily LeFrois-Heath placed first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:39.02, five seconds before the second-place finisher. She scored 32 points for the Green and Gold as well as breaking a school and meet record in the process. The previous school record was a 4:45.05, swam by Alanna Blasting in 2012.
 
When hosting Monroe Community College in January the Women kicked the meet off with a record-breaking relay. The team of Miya VitaleAddy MartinoEmily LeFrois-Heath and Sawyer Parker touched the pads first with a time of 4:07.26 breaking a 33-year-old pool record from 1989, in the 400-yard Medley Relay. The original record was 4:12.62, 5.5 seconds slower than the time the women swam that afternoon.
 
That same meet Kyra Russ  took first place in the 3-Meter. Russ scored a 285.37 on the 3-meter diving event, breaking the record previously held since 2011. Russ scored a 252.45 placing first and breaking another school record, previously held since 2017, officially earning her spot at NCAA Regionals.
 
The following day Brockport Hosted Fredonia and Alfred State in a Tri-Meet to Celebrate Senior Day and their first annual Chuck-A-Duck Event. Down in the well Kyra Russ placed first on 3-meter with a score of 297.45 . She also placed first on the 1-meter with a score of 271.70. Russ broke her own 3-meter record from the meet the day prior and broke the pool record for the 1-meter as well.
 
The Men finished 4-5 overall during this year's regular season. They had some great races and broke one record!
 
Luca Oliveri placed first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.15 and in the 100-back at the Hobart William Smith Invitational. His 100-back time of 55.90 set a new pool record at Hobart & William Smith for the event. 
 
Last SUNYACs: The 2021-2022 season ended on a high note for both the men and women swimming and diving programs. 
 
The women started the meet with a new record in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Nicole Orcutt, Sawyer Parker, Allison Morrow, and Elizabeth Sagan touched the pads at 7:57.39 setting a new school record the first night, setting the tone for the four-day meet. 
 
Mark Eaton placed fourth that same night on the 3-meter with a score of 478.45. Kurt Mueller also cracked top eight with a score of 415.30.
 
The momentum continued the next night as Sagan was crowned the 50-yard freestyle Champion as a freshman with a time of 23.97 on day two, becoming Brockport's first winner in that event since 2017.
 
Sagan, Parker, Orcutt and Emily Messiner took second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.60.
 
Orcutt took eighth in the 500-yard freestyle, standing on the podium with a time of 5:42.12.
 
Kyra Russ also earned some hardware for her performance on the 1-meter diving board. As a freshman she accumulated a score of 432.80 to place third in the event, getting her first career podium finish.
 
On day three of the event Oliver Dragojevic set a new school record for the men's 100-yard breaststroke. He beat his own record of 58.44 in the preliminaries with a time of 58.06 and then came back to beat it again with a 57.87 time in the finals.
 
Corinne Wilson, Allison Morrow, Bri Owen, and Elizabeth Sagan placed fourth with a time of 1:52.25 in the women's 200-yard medley relay
 
In the men's 1-meter diving finals, Mark Eaton took fifth place and Kurt Mueller earned eighth. Eaton compiled a final score of 452.45, while Mueller scored a 389.95. The duo combined to grab 25 points for the team.
 
In the women's 400-yard individual medley, Allison Morrow's time of 4:52.52 earned her sixth place in the finals. Her time is now the second-best time for the event in program history.
 
Nicole Orcutt swam the fourth fastest 200-yard freestyle in program history. She clocked in at 1:58.31 to place fifth, while teammates Elizabeth Sagan and Sawyer Parker both had top ten finishes in the event as well.
 
The SUNY Brockport men and women's swim and dive team concluded the SUNYAC Swim and Dive Championships with the women finishing in third place with 399 points, for the program's best finish in over 30 years, while the men finished seventh at the meet with 192 points.
 
On the final day of action, as a freshman, Elizabeth Sagan won the 100-yard freestyle finals to snag her second event championship of the meet. With a time of 52.44, she placed first with the third fastest event time in program history.
 
For the men's squad, Oliver Dragojevic broke another one of his own records. He swam a preliminary time of 2:05.32 in the 200-yard breaststroke event to set a new school record. Dragojevic placed fourth in the finals of the event with a time of 2:06.89.
 
Allison Morrow also got on the podium for her performance in the women's 200-yard breaststroke. Her third-place time of 2:25.69 ranks second best all-time for the event.
 
Elizabeth Sagan, Allison Morrow, Sawyer Parker, and Nicole Orcutt earned second place in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay. The squad clocked in at 3:35.19, to swim the third fastest time for the event in school history.
 
Sawyer Parker earned a sixth-place finish individually in the women's 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.78. Emily Meissner also turned in a top ten finish for the event, swimming a 54.77 in the second finals heat.
 
Nicole Orcutt just missed a medal with a fourth-place finish in the women's 200-yard butterfly, touching the pads with a time of 2:15.84.
 
Kyra Russ placed inside the top eight in the women's 3-meter diving competition, taking fifth with a score of 410.50.
 
The Postseason Continued: Kyra Russ and Kurt Mueller have qualified for the NCAA DIII Regional Championships during the regular season. The Championship meet will be held at Ithaca College on February 25th through February 26th.

Following both the SUNYAC Conference Championship Meet and NCAA Regionals, NCAA Nationals will take place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina from March 15th-18th, 2023.
