Geneseo, NY – In the opening round of the SUNYAC Women's Basketball Tournament, the Brockport Golden Eagles lost to Geneseo, 67-61. Despite a late rally in the fourth, Brockport came up short as the season ends with the loss.
 
Scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter, 
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste led the comeback efforts late in regulation. She scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds for the first double-double of her career.
 
Zairea Hannah also had a double-double for the Green and Gold in this one. She tallied 14 points and 16 boards in the contest. 
Zoe Zutes scored a career-high 13 points to go with seven rebounds, and three blocks defensively.
 
Zairea Hannah had a strong start, scoring six of Brockport's 12 points in the opening quarter. She did most of her damage at the line, going 4-for-4 at the stripe in the first. Geneseo's offense was on fire, shooting 8-for-12 from the field and 3-for-5 from deep. Although the Golden Eagles had a slight lead at, 10-7, the Knights closed the quarter on a run to go up 19-12.
 
The Knights continued to hit shots at a high percentage, as they completed the half at 50% shooting overall. After scoring no points in the first, Geneseo's Kiley Snow erupted with a trio of 3-pointers to score nine points in the second. Brockport's Hannah led all scorers with 10 at the break, but the Green and Gold trailed 34-23 at halftime.
 
With an 11-point advantage heading into the third quarter, Geneseo would build upon that lead. Lauren Romito and Hannah Stockman combined for 15 of the team's 19 points in the third. Brockport eventually trailed by as many as 19, ending the period down 53-35.
 
In need of a huge fourth quarter, the Golden Eagles got just that. They scored 26 points in the final period of regulation, the team's second highest total for a single quarter this year. Down by 20 points with 7:23 to play, Brockport started its big rally.

Shannon Blankenship hit four consecutive free throws to help chip away at the lead, helping the Golden Eagles chip away at the deficit. After a 16-point scoring run, Brockport fought to make it a 4-point game with 1:40 left on the clock.
 
After Geneseo split some free throws, Jean-Baptiste stepped up big once again. She made the score read 65-61 after hitting a jumper with 33 seconds remaining. However, even with Brockport outscoring the opponent by 12 points in the fourth the squad ran out of time. The Knights held on for the six-point victory at home, as they advance to the SUNYAC Semifinals on Friday.
 
The Golden Eagles' season has come to a close with the postseason loss, as they finish the year 12-14 overall and 9-9 in SUNYAC play.
