Brockport, NY – On Saturday, the men's track and field team completed the final day of the SUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Brockport placed third with 106.5 team points, behind Cortland (155.5 points) and the SUNYAC Champions from Geneseo (184 points).
Kelly Brown claimed the conference title in the men's 60-meter dash, running a 6.97 to take the gold. Teammate
Aaron Ottenwalder placed fifth in the event with a 7.09, helping the team score 14 points in the race.
Alex Rood also took a gold medal, placing first in the shot put with his distance of 15.87 meters.
Jason Marincic earned the bronze in the event with a 14.61. Coming in fourth with a 13.66 was
Matthew Muscolo, as Brockport took 21 points from the shot put.
Winning the silver medal in the men's mile,
Jonathan Zavala broke the school record once again for the event. Zavala ran a 4:09.34 for second place and eight points.
Thomas Kressly scored five points by coming in fourth with a time of 4:15.93.
Josh Jeziorski also earned a silver medal on the day. He took second to score eight points in the long jump with his mark of 7.09 meters. Teammate
Howard Nix took four points with a fifth-place jump of 6.73.
Ayden Grinion gave the Golden Eagles a point by placing eighth with a 51.40 in the men's 400-meter.
Just missing out on a medal,
Nick Markle's time of 1:56.09 was good for fourth place in the 800-meter. He scored five points in the race.
Aaron Ottenwalder added a point by taking eighth in the 200-meter with a time of 22.70.
In the 4x400 relay, Brockport's squad placed seventh for two points in the event.

Ayden Grinion,
Michael Durski, and
Kelly Brown ran a time of 3:39.75.
Mark Simmons scored 3.5 points in the men's high jump, tying for fifth place with a height of 1.85 meters.
Freshman
Ian Szemcsak finished fourth in the men's heptathlon competition with a total of 4,147 points. He scored five points for the Green and Gold with his efforts.
Now the Golden Eagles prepare for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Indoor Championships on March 3
rd and 4
th. They will head to New York City as the individuals who qualified will compete in the regional meet.
