Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport indoor track and field teams fared very well hosting the Brockport Multi & Invitational this weekend. The women's team collected a total of 147 points to place first, while the men earned second with a score of 110 points.
Derek Hutchings took fourth in the 5000-meter with a 16:12.06 to score five points.
Chris Cammisa was right behind him in fifth place to grab four points with a time of 16:43.82.
Sean Killip ran a regional qualifying time of 4:23.66 for first place in the mile.
Jared Smith was second in the race with a 4:24.51 and
JJ Montemaro's 4:34.88 was good for seventh. The trio combined to score 20 team points in the event.
Jonathan Zavala and
Nick Markle grabbed a total of 13 points from the 800-meter race. Zavala's second place time of 1:56.04 met the regional standard. Markle took fourth with a time of 1:58.62.
Thomas Kressly and
Dillon VanDemortel earned the top two spots in the 1000-meter to score 18 points for the Green and Gold. Kressly ran a 2:31.72 and VanDemortel clocked in at 2:34.51.
The relay squad of
JJ Montemaro,
Michael McGowan,
Thomas Kressly, and
Daniel Casey ran a 10:48.61 for first place and 10 team points in the distance medley relay.
In the 4x400 relay, Brockport's group grabbed eight more points with a time of 3:28.93. The relay was ran by
Michael Durski,
Josh Jeziorski,
Ayden Grinion, and
Kelly Brown.
Three Golden Eagles scored in the shot put, totaling 17 points in the event.
Alex Rood took second with a 15.18,
Jason Marincic was third with a 14.32, and
Matthew Muscolo placed sixth with a 13.90.
Dustin Meyer continues to show out in the pole vault event for Brockport, placing first once again with a mark of 5.01 meters. He was able to score 10 points for the team in the event.
Joseph Gefell and
D'Andre Hunter took sixth and seventh place in the triple jump for another five points for Brockport. Gefell leaped a distance of 12.80 meters, while Hunter registered a leap of 12.69 meters.
Next weekend the Golden Eagles will split up the competing athletes at two different meets. A group will travel to Boston University for the David Hemery Invitational on February 10
th and 11
th. Others will head to Susquehanna University on February 10
th for the River Hawk Friday Night Invitational.
