Brockport Falls 10-5 to UMass Boston

Auburndale, FL – The SUNY Brockport Baseball team fell to the UMass Boston Beacons 5-10 on Sunday night under the lights. 
 
Boston started the game off with four runs in the first, followed by another run in top of the third, leaving Brockport to trail 5-0 heading into the fourth.
 
In the bottom of the fourth, Patrick Bigham grounded out second, Nicholas Pastore also got out on the play, but Johnny Genau advanced to third and James Houlahan made it across home plate, scoring the first run for The Green and Gold.
 
Boston scored one run in the fifth before Brockport's big sixth inning. Zach Eldred singled to center field, batting Pastore in and advancing Bigham to second base. Ryan Mansell reached on a fielder's choice, David Belsito advanced to second, Eldred to third and Bigham home unearned due to a fielding error. Frank Vanzillotta was hit by a pitch, moving all the men up one plate, brining Eldred home for a total of 4 runs. Brockport trialed two runs heading into the top of the 7th.
 
Boston scored once more in the seventh and another in the eighth.
 
Eldred scored Brockport's final run of the game after Belstio reached first on a fielding error by Boston's second basemen. The run wasn't enough to pull out a win as Brockport fell 5-10.
 
Zach Eldred started the game on the mound for the Green and Gold making 34 pitches and two strike outs. Adam Douglas came in for five innings, pitching 68 times and earning four strike outs. Justin DelVecchio played two innings, making 45 pitches and four strike outs, followed by Michael Heilig for the top of the 9th. Heilig made 17 pitches and 3 strikeouts.
 
Brockport will be back tomorrow morning on Field #4 at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale Florida to face #31 Wheaton College.
