Auburndale, FL – The SUNY Brockport Baseball team fell 12-6 to #31 Wheaton Monday morning at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
Wheaton got on the board first with two runs in the top of the second. Brockport retaliated in the bottom half of the inning with two runs to tie the game. A single from
Ryan Voight, brought
Zach Eldred home.
Justin Pangburn then brought Voight in to score to tie the game.
Wheaton scored their another run in the third, on a balk, going up 3-2. In the bottom of the third
Patrick Bigham hit a single to center field, bringing Nick Pastore home making the score 3-3.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Wheaton would go on to score nine unanswered runs. The team scored three in the fifth, two in the seventh, and four more in the eighth.
Brockport's
Frank Vanzillotta drew a walk with the bases loaded that scored
Sean Becker. Becker recorded his first collegiate hit in the game, connecting for a double.
Quinn Mahoney was also walked, which brought
Alan Michael LeFrois home to score.
Logan Wing then scored the Golden Eagles final run of the game on a balk.
Despite a nice 3-run inning in the ninth, Brockport was unable to come back. Wheaton walked away with the 12-6 win on Monday.
Matthew Colucci spent five innings on the mount, allowing 7 hits. Colucci pitched four strike outs across 20 at bats in the contest.
Anthony Lapine,
Keegan Jarvais and
Nick Deising also made appearances at the mound in this one.
The men will take Tuesday off before returning to Lake Myrtle to compete against Stockton University on Thursday March 16th at 1:30pm.
