Auburndale, FL – Brockport had a big day down in Florida under the Sun with a 17-1 game against Springfield College.
Matt McGowan started on the mound for the Green and Gold. McGowan pitched a total of six innings, with 92 pitches, allowing one run, four hits, and striking out eight batters.
James Houlahan started the game with a walk, followed by a sacrifice bunt from
Johnny Genau, allowing Houlahan to advance to second.
Nicholas Pastore singled to left field, brining Houlhan to third.
Patrick Bigham hit a double, brining home Pastore and Houlahan to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0 going into the bottom of the first.
Brockport scored again in the top of the second when Genau flied out to cf, brining
Justin Pangburn home.
The field was quite until Brockport had a nine-run inning in the top of the sixth.
Jack Gobin pinch hit for
Jason Mansell, and was walked, before he stole second.
Frank Vanzillotta was put in at second as a pinch runner for Gobin. Pangburn hit a single to right field and brought home Vanzillotta. Houlahan then singled to right field and Pangburn took third. Houlahan advanced to second on a throw.
Genau was up to bat next and singled, bringing home both Houlahan and Pangburn. Pastore hit a single to left field and advanced to second on an error on the left fielder, he brought home Genau who advanced to second on the same error, third and then home.
Zach Eldred singled to right field brining in Pastore. Bigham doubled to center field, bringing home Eldred.
Nick Mahar reached first by an error on the second basemen and Bigham advanced to third. Vanzillotta hit a single to left field, bringing home Bigham and allowing Mahar to advance to second. Vanzillotta advanced to second on a passed ball and Mahar advanced to third. Pangburn was walked.
Houlahan reached first on an error by the second baseman, bringing both Mahar and Vanzillotta home in the process.
Brockport scored their final five runs in the top of the seventh. Pastore was walked before Eldred singled to center field allowing Pastore to advance.
Ryan Voight doubled to right field brining Pastore home and putting Eldred on third. Mahar was walked and Vanzillotta singled to left field, bringing Eldred home, moving Mahar to second and Voight to third.
Brian Tietjen walked with bases loaded brining Voight home.
Nick Ianniello was put in to pinch run for Tiejen.
Colin Coykendall hit a big double to right field brining Vanzillotta and Mahar home, leaving Ianniello on third.
Angelo Agro appeared on the mound finishing out the game for Brockport with 10 pitches, and one strike out.
Brockport will play their final game of the Spring Training trip to the RussMatt Invitational in Auburndale Florida, tomorrow on field #7 at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex against Lawrence University.
