Baseball Leaves Florida on 3-Game Win Streak

Auburndale, FL – The SUNY Brockport Baseball team won 5-1 against Lawrence University for their final game down in Florida at the RussMatt tournament.
 
Andrew Huffman started on the mound for the Green and Gold throwing a total of 59 pitches and 12 strike outs. He didn't let up as much as a hit until the bottom of the fourth when the opposing team scored one run. 
 
James Houlahan started the game with a double and then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Johnny Genau. The field was quiet after that until the top of the second when Patrick Bigham started the inning with a home run to left field. Nick Mahar singled, and then advanced to second with Justin Pangburn's sacrifice bunt. Brian Tietjen singled to center field and batted Mahar home.
 
The game moved along quickly until the bottom of the fourth where Lawrence scored its lone run of the game. 
 
In the top of the fifth Pastore singled to left field, followed by a single from Zach Eldred that allowed Pastore to score. Bigham singled to left field, and Eldred advanced to second. Mahar reached first on a fielder's choice and Bigham was tagged out while Eldred advanced to third. With Pangburn up to bat, Mahar stole second and Eldred stole home to score Brockport's fourth run of the game. 
 
Matthew Colucci came in the game in to relieve Huffman at the top of the sixth inning. In his four innings on the mound, Colucci had five strikeouts and 1 hit amongst his 41 pitches.
 
The Golden Eagles scored their final run in the top of the seventh. Pastore singled to left field, followed by him stealing second. Nick Mahar hit a single to right field and batted Pastore in for the final run of the game.
 
Brockport will head back to New York to gear up for a Wednesday afternoon game at University of Rochester at 4pm. The squad leaves Florida with a record of 7-6 overall, currently on a three-game win streak.
