New York, NY – On Saturday the Golden Eagle men's track and field team finished up its work at the AARTFC Indoor Championships. With a final team score of 52 points, Brockport placed fourth at the meet.
Running an 8:29.72 in the 3000-meter,
Thomas Kressly sets a new school record for the event. He took second place in the race and scored eight points for the Green and Gold.
Alex Irving finished third in the triple jump event. He leaped a distance of 13.96 meters to add six points to the team's total.
Jonathan Zavala placed fifth in the men's mile run with a time of 4:13.43 to score four points. Currently ranked 14
th in the nation, he awaits results around the country to determine his place at nationals.
Nick Markle added two points for the squad with his 1:56.31 in the 800-meter, placing seventh in the event.
Ian Szemcsak scored a point by taking eighth in the men's heptathlon with a final score of 4,001.
The Golden Eagles wait the final results from around the country to determine which athletes have punched their tickets to nationals. The top 20 marks in the nation qualify to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships next weekend in Birmingham, AL.
