Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team suffered a tough loss at home against No. 8 William Smith on Wednesday, 19-4. The loss pushes Brockport to 1-2 on the season, while William Smith improves to 3-0.
Cassidy Burnash continues to lead the Golden Eagle attacking effort, finishing with three points on two goals and an assist in the game.
Julia Quinlan and
Alayna Foos each got on the board as well with one goal apiece.
Freshman
Hannah Parsons stepped into the net early on in the first quarter, making a career-high 11 saves in 49:20 of action.
Peyton Curley made her collegiate debut in net in the fourth, making one save during her short shift.
The visiting Herons took control of the contest early, scoring in the first minute on the way to a 6-0 first quarter. They continued on with another strong showing in the second with five more goals. Burnash got Brockport in the scoring column in the second, as the team trailed 11-1 going into halftime.
The Golden Eagles found another goal in the third and two more in the fourth, but William Smith kept up its pace with eight in the second half. Burnash, Foos, and Quinlan all found the back of the net, but the squad was too far behind to mount a comeback.
Brockport is back on its home field this Saturday to host Kenyon College for a 3pm start.
