Multis Kickoff Day 1 of the Brockport Invitational on Friday

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport track and field team got started with its home Multi & Invitational on Friday afternoon. The competitors for the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon got the action started for the meet.
 
Before the multi athletes began the first events, the Golden Eagle senior class was recognized. They held a short ceremony at the field to honor the group of seniors participating in possibly the last home meet of their careers at Brockport.
 
After completing four of the seven events, Madison Baker owns fourth place in the heptathlon with 2027 points. In the men's decathlon, Ian Szemcsak has 2979 points for sixth place after the first five events.
 
Baker took second place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.89. She then ran a 28.90 for fourth in the 200-meter dash. In the shot put her throw of 8.43 meters was fifth best. She then cleared a height of 1.32 meters for sixth in the high jump.
 
On the men's side of the action, Szemcsak holds the sixth spot in the decathlon. He took third in the long jump with his 6.21 meters. He then was fourth in the high jump with his mark of 1.76 meters. In the shot put the freshman hit 9.95 meters for fifth. Ian then clocked in at 55.03 for seventh in the 400-meter and 11.89 for 10th in the 100-meter.
 
The final events of the multi athletes will be held tomorrow as well as the rest of the athletes. It all begins at 9 am back at the home track of the Golden Eagles.
