Brockport Falls to Fisher at Home

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport baseball team fell 5-2 to the St. John Fisher Cardinals at home for Faculty and Staff at the Ballpark Day.
 
Anthony Lapine started on the hill for the Green and Gold, pitching three innings. He gave up four hits, two runs and struck out two batters.
 
James Houlahan started the game with a single to center field but was left on base. 
 
Fisher scored two runs in the top of the third inning. The Cardinals scored their third run of the game in the top of the fourth, sending Brockport down 3-0 into the bottom of the fourth.
 
Nicholas Pastore hit a double to right field in the bottom of the fourth. Zach Eldred grounded out to second base and Pastore advanced to third but was left on base.
 
In the bottom of the sixth Houlahan singled to third base. Justin Pangburn singled to left and Houlahan advanced to second. Nicholas Pastore reached first on a fielder's choice as Houlahan was out at third and Pangburn advanced to second. 
 
Fisher scored their fourth run in the top of the seventh inning. Brockport scored their first run in the bottom of the seventh. Zach Harter hit a single to first base. He advanced to second on a wild pitch, as well as third on another wild pitch. Ryan Mansell grounded out to the shortstop and Harter scored Brockport's first run of the game. 
 
Brockport scored their second run in the bottom of the eighth. Houalhan was hit by a pitch and landed on first. Pastore hit a single to right field and Houlahan advanced to second. Eldred reached on a fielder's choice, Pastore was out at second base and Houlahan advanced to third. Patrick Bigham singled to left field, bringing home Houlahan. Eldred was left on base as the inning ended with an out from shortstop to second base.
 
Fisher scored its fifth run in the top of the ninth, ending the game with a final score of 5-2.
 
Andrew Huffman pitched 2.0 innings, gave up one hit and one run, striking out two batters. Justin DelVecchio pitched 2.2 innings, he gave up three hits, one run and struck out five batters. Cooper Meldrim pitched 1.1 innings, gave up two hits, one run and struck out one batter.
 
Brockport will be on the road tomorrow afternoon at the RIT Baseball Complex to face the Tigers at 3pm.
