Geneseo, NY – On Sunday the SUNY Brockport track and field team began the outdoor season at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational.
Jared Smith placed fourth in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase with his time of 9:41.97 to hit the regional qualifying standard.
With a 17:40.42 in the women's 5000-meter, Kerry Flower hit the regional qualifying time. This also was good for the fifth fastest time for the event in program history.
Jonathan Zavala (5

Thomas Kressly (6
th), and
Paul Suflita (7
th) all ran the regional standard time in the men's side of the 5000-meter. Zavala's time of 15:03.02 ranks 10
th all-time in school history. Kressly ran a 15:03.51 and Suflita clocked in at 15:05.55.
Vanessa Ramos and Mia Vizcaino both cracked the top 10 in the 800-meter event. Ramos placed sixth with a 2:23.90, while Vizcaino was ninth with a time of 2:25.07.
Jason Marincic led the men's throwers in the javelin with a sixth-place distance of 44.56. He was also fifth in the discus, hitting a mark of 42.99 meters. Matt Muscolo (41.01) and
Alex Rood (40.04) placed seventh and ninth respectively in the discus.
Emma Kinnicutt and Sarah Crockett finished sixth and seventh in the women's discus. Kinnicutt earned a mark of 37.50, while Crockett hit a 37.22.
Rebecca Heuler logged a throw of 34.87 meters to take second in the women's javelin. Teammate Emily Beattie was close behind with a 33.60 for fourth place.
The Golden Eagles are back at Geneseo on Monday afternoon to complete the final set of events for the meet. The action gets started at 2pm on April 3
rd.
