Rochester, NY – The Golden Eagle track and field team competed at the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic on Saturday.
Dustin Meyer hit 5.10 meters during the pole vault competition for second place, setting a new school record and moving into second on the national performance list.
In the men's 10,000m
Miguel Benito's time of 33:41.72 was good for second place in the race.
Veronica Dailey won the women's 3000m steeplechase at the meet, clocking in at 11:56.54. Teammate Olivia Annunziato took fifth in the event with a 12:46.13.
A time of 4:54.30 by Jennifer Metz in the 1500m was good for third in the event. On the men's side,
Dillon VanDemortel (4:01.04) and
Gabriel Winters-Bona (4:01.49) placed third and fourth respectively.
Clara Sensini's 59.82 earned first place in the 400m dash, while Marissa Wise took third with a time of 1:00.63.
Michael Durski ran a 49.38 to place fourth in the men's 400m.
In the men's 800m,
Jonathan Zavala,
Thomas Kressly, and
Nick Markle all earned top five finishes. Zavala won the race with a 1:54.54, Kressly placed third with a 1:56.16, and Markle was fifth with a 1:56.53.
Ayden Grinion ran a fifth-place time of 56.47 in the 400m hurdles. Sarah Levine ran a 26.02 for fifth in the women's 200m dash.
The Golden Eagles had four women throwers get inside the top eight in the discus. Emma Kinnicutt (36.48) was fifth, Katrina Chandler (35.96) was sixth, Sarah Crockett (35.91) was seventh, and Rebecca Heuler (34.56) was eighth.
Heuler also shined in the javelin throw, placing first with a distance of 40.65 meters.
Kinnicutt was third in the hammer throw with her mark of 47.03 meters. Teammates Crockett (46.31) and Chandler (46.30) placed fourth and fifth respectively. In the men's hammer throw,
Matthew Jackson took third with a 55.08.
Alex Rood and
Jason Marincic took third/fourth with throws of 14.61 and 14.25 meters respectively in the shot put. Crockett won the women's shot put with a 13.42 on the day.
At the jump pit, Mia Montgomery took third in the long jump with a distance of 5.68 meters.
Ian Szemcsak hit a mark of 9.63 on the men's side of the long jump for fifth place.
Alex Irving hit a distance of 14.15 meters on his first leap, good for the top spot on the day in the triple jump.
Tess Eichner was sixth on the women's side with a 3.40 clearance height. In the unseeded men's pole vault, Szemcsak earned third by clearing a height of 4.00m.
Brockport had the two top spots in the women's high jump. Sarah Killip placed first with a height of 1.65 meters and Michaela Levesque was second with a 1.57 clearance height.
The Golden Eagles now turn their attention to the SUNYAC Championships, set for May 5
th and 6
th at Oneonta.
