Flower & Suflita Claim Regional Crowns & Facility Records on Day 1 of AARTFC Championships

Selinsgrove, PA – On day one of the AARTFC Championships, the Golden Eagles had several strong performances. This includes Kerry Flower and Paul Suflita both setting facility records in the 10,000m at Susquehanna's Doug Arthur Stadium.
 
The women's team is currently in second place with 34 points, while the men are in a tie for sixth with 18 points.
 
Kerry Flower claims the top spot in the region in the 10,000m race, scoring 10 points for the women's squad. With a time of 36:49.27 she sets a new facility record at Susquehanna University.
 
In the men's 10,000m event, Paul Suflita followed suit as the regional champion. He also set a new facility record on the day with his time of 31:09.89, scoring 10 points.
 
Mia Montgomery earned second place in the region with her showing in the women's long jump. She recorded a distance of 5.75m on her second jump, scoring eight points for the Golden Eagles.
 
In the men's pole vault, Dustin Meyer scored six points for the men's team. He took third place with his clearance height of 4.27m on the day.
 
Registering a personal-best mark of 42.07m on her third attempt, Rebecca Heuler scored six points with a third-place finish in the javelin.
 
Clara Sensini, Marissa Wise, Jennifer Metz, and Sarah Levine ran a 3:55.15 for a sixth-place finish in the 4x400m relay. The group scored three points for the women's team with the second fastest time in program history.
 
With a PR of 9:28.07 in the men's 3000m steeplechase, Dillon VanDemortel scored two points from the event. He finished seventh in the race and clocks in with the fifth fastest finish all-time at Brockport.
 
On the women's side, Veronica Dailey took fifth place in the 3000m steeplechase. Her time of 11:29.23 was good to grab four points for the Green and Gold.
 
Sarah Crockett threw a 41.04m on her second attempt in the discus. She placed sixth in the event to score four points.
 
The Golden Eagles are back in action at Doug Arthur Stadium tomorrow for the second and final day of the All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Championships. The first events on Thursday are scheduled to begin at 10am.
