Oneonta, NY – The Golden Eagles men's track and field team placed third at the SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a total of 114 points. Geneseo took the conference title as a team with 239 points.
Brockport snagged silver and bronze in the 1500m event.
Jonathan Zavala ran a 3:51.67 for second and
Thomas Kressly had a 3:55.19 to take third. With a time of 3:56.67,
Sean Killip finished fifth.
Alex Rood registered a distance of 14.98m on his fifth attempt in the shot put, taking second place for silver.
John Demy (5
th),
Jason Marincic (7
th), and
Matthew Muscolo (8
th) all combined to add seven more points for Brockport in the event.
Paul Suflita was able to grab bronze in the 3000m steeplechase with a third-place time of 9:26.81.
Dillon VanDemortel ran a 9:34.25 to take fourth place in the event.
In the discus throw,
John Demy threw a 43.27 to take third place in the event and six points for the Green and Gold.
Alex Rood (5
th) and
Jason Marincic (8
th) also scored for the team in the event.
In the 4x400m relay the team of
Aaron Ottenwalder,
Ayden Grinion,
Kevin Fischer, and
Michael Durski ran a regional qualifying time of 3:18.73. They placed fourth in the event to score five points for the Golden Eagles.
Gabriel Winters-Bona just missed out on medaling in the 5000m, placing fourth with a 15:20.12.
Jared Smith scored in the event as well with a seventh-place time of 15:32.65.
In the high jump,,
Dillon Murphy cleared 1.85m to take sixth place and three points for the team.
The Golden Eagles will have one last weekend for their athletes to hit the regional qualifying standards. They head to Utica on Saturday, May 14th and Widener on Sunday the 15th for the last chance before the AARTFC Championships on May 17th and 18th.
